Phospholipid methylase and cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase activities were studied in human B lymphoïd hemopathies (51 patients: acute lymphoblastic leukemia, B lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia, hairy cell leukemia) and compared with activities in lymphoblastïd and Burkitt lymphoma cell lines and with normal B lymphocytes: methylase activity proved to be lower in ALL and high grade lymphoma and inversely related to the percent of cells in S phase state; the A/G ratio of phosphodiesterases was low in ALL and CLL and high in hairy cell leukemia and it was related to the percent of cells in S phase state.

Background: Elevated hepatic glucose production (HGP) is a prominent manifestation of impaired hepatic glucose metabolism in individuals with diabetes. Increased hepatic gluconeogenesis plays a pivotal role in the dysregulation of hepatic glucose metabolism and contributes significantly to fasting hyperglycemia in diabetes. Previous studies have identified zinc-finger BED domain-containing 3 (ZBED3) as a risk gene for type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and its single nucleotide polymorphism (SNPs) is closely associated with the fasting blood glucose level, suggesting a potential correlation between ZBED3 and the onset of diabetes.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibitor (ICIs)-based therapies are the standard of care treatment for patients with metastatic melanoma (MM). The stimulator of interferon genes (STING) signaling pathway is critical in controlling immune responses to ICIs. Interferon (IFN)-γ-inducible protein 16 (IFI16) is a cytosolic DNA sensor that activates the STING signaling pathway.

Background: Chemical modifications on RNA profoundly affect RNA function and regulation. m6A, the most abundant RNA modification in eukaryotes, plays a pivotal role in diverse cellular processes and disease mechanisms. However, its importance is understudied in human CKD samples regarding its influence on pathological mechanisms.

Folate metabolism is required for important biochemical processes that regulate cell functioning, but its role in female reproductive physiology in cattle during peri- and post-conceptional periods has not been thoroughly explored. Previous studies have shown the presence of folate in bovine oviductal fluid, as well as finely regulated gene expression of folate receptors and transporters in bovine oviduct epithelial cells (BOECs). Additionally, extracellular folic acid (FA) affects the transcriptional levels of genes important for the functioning of BOECs.

The second messenger cyclic diguanylate monophosphate (c-di-GMP) regulates a wide range of bacterial behaviours through diverse mechanisms and binding receptors. Single-domain PilZ proteins, the most widespread and abundant known c-di-GMP receptors in bacteria, act as trans-acting adaptor proteins that enable c-di-GMP to control signalling pathways with high specificity. This study identifies a single-domain PilZ protein, XAC3402 (renamed N5MapZ), from the phytopathogen Xanthomonas citri subsp.
