The title Schiff base compound, CHNO, crystallizes in a new crystal form in the space group 222, which is different from the monoclinic 2/ space group reported previously [De (2009 ▸). , , 595-598]. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond occurs between the hy-droxy and azomethine moieties. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into supra-molecular chains propagating along the -axis direction with a (8) graph-set motif. The contribution of these two contacts in Hirshfeld surface area are around 19 and 21%, respectively. The title compound was screened for its anti-bacterial activity against two gram-negative ( and ) and one gram-positive ( bacteria. The results of this study reveal that this Schiff base shows good activity against only one bacterium, .

Polyamide 6 (PA6) in its α and γ-forms was studied from 30 to 220 °C using Raman spectroscopy in the low- and high-wavenumber regions. Quantum chemical calculations were employed to assist with band assignments. In the low-wavenumber region, a peak at approximately 100 cm, attributable to a mixed mode of methylene lateral motion and amide group stretching, was observed.

Natural products are ligands and in vitro inhibitors of Alzheimer's disease (AD) tau. Dihydromyricetin (DHM) bears chemical similarity to known natural product tau inhibitors. Despite having signature polyphenolic character, DHM is ostensibly hydrophobic owing to intermolecular hydrogen bonds that shield hydrophilic phenols.

The diaspore-type crystalline structure is historically well-known in mineralogy, but it has also been widely studied for various applications in the field of catalysis, electrocatalysis, and batteries. However, once two anions of similar ionic size but different electronegativity, such as F and O or more precisely OH, are combined, the knowledge of the location of these two anions is of paramount importance to understand the chemical properties in relation with the generation of hydrogen bonds. Coprecipitation and hydrothermal routes were used to prepare hydroxide-fluorides that crystallize all in an orthorhombic structure with four formula units per cell.

Mature compost can reduce gaseous emissions in composting, but its regulation mechanisms via biotic and abiotic functions are largely unknown. This study used fresh and inactivated mature compost as additives in kitchen waste composting to unveil the relevant mechanisms using metagenomic analysis. Results showed that mature compost reduce gaseous emission by improving physiochemical properties and inoculating functional microbes.

Unwanted nonspecific adsorption caused by biomolecules influences the lifetime of biomedical devices and the sensing performance of biosensors. Previously, we have designed B-M-E triblock proteins that rapidly assemble on inorganic surfaces (gold and silica) and render those surfaces antifouling. The B-M-E triblock proteins have a surface-binding domain B, a multimerization domain M and an antifouling domain E.
