It is shown that the intensity of ammonium genesis, purines biosynthesis and redox processes increases in the organism of chicken with visceral gout. Sodium bicarbonate-correction of the acid-alkaline state of chickens is performed in order to normalize disturbances observed under gout.

Estuarine ecosystems have been threatened by increasing anthropogenic and natural pressures, yet the integral understanding of their stability characteristics of microbial communities at taxonomic, habitat, and spatial scales remains limited. In this study, the Mulan River estuary in southeastern China was selected to compare the stability characteristics of bacterial and protistan communities in water and sediments over three hydrological periods, and to explore their spatial variations along the estuarine continuum from river to ocean. The potential driving mechanisms of stability characteristics were also explored.

The study investigated the enhancement of stability and efficacy in the removal of bivalent nickel ions (Ni(II)) by utilizing a cerium metal-organic framework (Ce-MOF) encapsulated within a food-grade algal matrix. This composite material is integrated into a dual-layer hydrogel containing chitosan and carboxymethyl cellulose. The enhancement of structural integrity in the final product can be attributed to the cross-linking process with epichlorohydrin, leading to the development of Ce-MOF-FGA/CMC-CS hydrogel beads.

Meteoritic impacts on planetary surfaces deliver a significant amount of energy that can produce prebiotic organic compounds such as cyanides, which may be a key step to the formation of biomolecules. To study the chemical processes of impact-induced organic synthesis, we simulated the physicochemical processes of hypervelocity impacts (HVI) in experiments with both high-speed C projectiles and laser ablation. In the first approach, a C beam was accelerated to collide with ammonium nitrate (NHNO) to reproduce the shock process and plume generation of meteoritic impacts on nitrogen-rich planetary surfaces.

Maize seedlings in cold regions and high latitude often face abiotic stress. As a result, weak seedlings affect maize production, The commonly used seed coating agents in production are mainly to prevent biological stress of pests and diseases, and have little effect on seedling vigor and abiotic resistance. In this experiment, the combination of graphene oxide (GO) and seed coating agent can effectively prevent pests and diseases and increase the growth of seedlings.

Background: Spirometry-based assessment of pulmonary function has limitations in detecting pulmonary toxicity following cancer treatment with chemotherapy, haematopoietic stem cell transplantation, radiotherapy or thoracic surgery. Nitrogen single and multiple breath washout tests are sensitive in assessing peripheral airway function, and lung imaging detects structural abnormalities, but little is known about their use in paediatric cancer patients and survivors. We aimed to 1) identify studies using nitrogen single or multiple breath washout tests and/or lung imaging to assess pulmonary toxicity in paediatric cancer patients and survivors, and 2) describe reported abnormalities.
