The use of twin-roll strip casting for the preparation of non-oriented silicon steel has attracted widespread attention in recent years, but related reports are limited. In this study, both one- and two-stage cold rolling with three intermediate annealing temperatures were employed to produce strip cast non-oriented silicon steel. The evolution of the microstructure and texture through the processing routes and its effect on magnetic properties were studied. Compared with one-stage rolling, two-stage rolling increased the in-grain shear bands and the retention of Cube texture in the cold rolled sheets, thereby promoting the nucleation of favorable Goss and Cube grains and restraining the nucleation of harmful {111}<112> grains. With the increase in intermediate annealing temperature, the η-fiber texture in annealed sheets was gradually enhanced, and the average grain size was increased, leading to significant improvement of magnetic properties.

This study investigates the grain morphology, microstructure, magnetic properties and shape memory properties of an FeNiCoAlTaB (at%) high-entropy alloy (HEA) cold-rolled to 98%. The EBSD results show that the texture intensities of the samples annealed at 1300 °C for 0.5 or 1 h are 2.

Rolling circle amplification (RCA) is a widely used method for the synthesis of DNA nanoparticles and macro-hydrogels. Several strategies, including oscillation-promoted entanglement of DNA chains, multi-round chain amplification, hybridization between DNA chains, and hybridization with functional moieties, were applied to synthesize DNA macro-hydrogels; alternatively, flower-like nanoparticles were also produced. Here we report a straightforward yet effective method to manipulate the morphology of RCA products from nanoparticles to 3D hydrogels using an additional cold treatment step of the circular DNA template prior to elongation using phi29 DNA polymerase.

Copper matrix composites (Cu-MCs) have garnered significant attention due to their exceptional electrical, wear-resistant, and mechanical properties. Among them, AlO/Cu composites, reinforced with AlO, are a focal point in the field of high-strength, high-conductivity copper alloys, owing to their high strength, excellent electrical conductivity, and superior resistance to high-temperature softening. Cold deformation is an effective method for enhancing the mechanical properties of AlO/Cu composites.

Through the ferrite single-phase parameters of M50 bearing steel obtained based on nanoindentation experiments and the representative volume element (RVE) model established based on the real microstructure of M50, this paper established a multiscale finite element model for the cold ring rolling of M50 and verified its accuracy. The macroscale and mesoscale flow behaviors of the ring during the cold rolling deformation process were examined and explained. The macroscopic flow behavior demonstrated that the stress distribution was uniform following rolling.
