Analysis of trace amounts of drugs of abuse is important in a variety of situations, including forensic casework. Here, a method for the facile, rapid collection of traces of drugs from a variety of porous and nonporous surfaces, including fabrics, is detailed. A small amount of extraction solvent, including an internal standard, is applied to the fabric surface, followed by application of a patterned absorbent disk which resorbs much of the extraction solvent along with dissolved traces of any drug present. Over half of the extraction solvent is recovered in 15 s from many natural and synthetic fabrics, with weights ranging from 64 to 374 mg/in., by pressing a half-inch diameter patterned glass fiber membrane disk to the wetted area. The patterned disk is then placed in a standard OpenSpot™ holder of a direct analysis in real time (DART) mass spectrometer with a data collection time of 1 or 2 min. Semi-quantitation of low microgram levels of drugs is achieved by comparison of spectra to those from a standard control disk.

In a systematic study, six pseudopolymorphic coordination polymers containing the ditopic 1,3-di(pyridin-4-yl)urea ligand (4bpu) constructed with d metal cations, possessing the formula {[M(4bpu)I]S} [(M = Zn, Cd and Hg), (S = MeOH or EtOH)], namely Zn-MeOH, Zn-EtOH, Cd-MeOH, Cd-EtOH, Hg- and Hg-EtOH were obtained. The title compounds were characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis (SC-XRD), elemental analysis (CHN), FT-IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD). The diffraction studies show that these compounds are isostructural 1D zig-zag chain coordination polymers which is also confirmed using XPac 2.

In recent years, global trends indicate consumer interest in functional foods. Thus, there is a trend to replace the use of artificial colors with natural colors that, in addition to being attractive to consumers, provide benefits to the biological functions of the human organism. The objective of this research was the solvent extraction of a natural dye from the roselle flower, its identification and evaluation of its behavior at different pH and temperatures.

The unique properties and versatile applications of natural deep eutectic solvents (NaDES) have sparked significant interest in the field of green chemistry. Comprised of natural components that form liquids at room temperature through strong noncovalent electrostatic interaction, these solvents are cost-effective, nontoxic, and versatile. Betaine chloride-based NaDES, in particular, have shown promise in biocatalysis and sugar extraction due to their excellent properties.

Background: Colon cancer is the third most common cancer type worldwide. Novel alternative therapeutic anti-cancer drugs against colon cancer with less toxicity are to be explored . This study was aimed to explore the anti-proliferative and anti-migratory activity of various fractions of ethanolic leaf extract on human colon cancer cell lines (HCT-116) and to explore the potential molecular targets from the most potent plant extract fraction.

Introduction: Peels are an abundant but still underutilized waste product in the Citrus fruit industry. They contain coumarins with antiadipogenic potential that could be promising targets in new valorization strategies for Citrus peels.
Objectives: In this study, these coumarins, that is, citropten, bergamottin, and 5-geranyloxy-7-methoxycoumarin (5G7MC), were investigated in Citrus limon peels of different commercial varieties by HPLC-DAD after extraction with ethanol and choline chloride-based natural deep eutectic solvents (NADES) as alternative extraction agents in green natural product extraction.
