Background: Previous studies suggest that the pathophysiology of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is characterized not only by high ventricular stiffness, but also by vascular stiffness. Azilsartan has higher vascular affinity compared with other angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs), which were proven to have no beneficial effects on clinical outcomes in patients with HFpEF in earlier clinical trials. We aimed to test the hypothesis that azilsartan may improve left ventricular diastolic function in HFpEF patients with hypertension in this trial.

Methods: The Effects of Angiotensin Receptor Blockers on Diastolic Function in Patients Suffering from Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction: J-TASTE trial is a multicenter, randomized, open-labeled, and assessor(s)-blinded, active controlled using candesartan, parallel-group clinical trial, to compare changes in left ventricular (LV) diastolic dysfunction between HFpEF patients with hypertension who have received candesartan or azilsartan for 48 weeks. The primary endpoint is the change in early diastolic wave height/early diastolic mitral annulus velocity (E/e') assessed by echocardiography from the baseline to the end of the study (48 weeks). A total of 190 patients will be recruited into the study.

Conclusions: The design of the J-TASTE trial will provide data on whether differences between the effects of the two tested drugs on LV diastolic function exist in HFpEF patients with hypertension and will improve understanding of the pathophysiological role of vascular stiffness on diastolic function.

The maximal oxygen uptake (V̇O) is typically higher in endurance-trained adolescents than in non-endurance-trained peers. However, the specific mechanisms contributing to this remain unclear, as well as the impact of training during this developmental stage. This study aims to compare V̇O and cardiovascular functions between 12-year-old endurance athletes and non-endurance-trained over a 14-month period.

Background: Abnormalities of left ventricular (LV) diastolic function are established independent predictors of heart failure (HF) and mortality.

Objectives: To determine whether the association of diastolic function with all-cause mortality is driven by cardiovascular or non-cardiovascular death and if impaired relaxation mitral inflow filling pattern is a risk marker.

Methods: Diastolic function was graded by the Mayo Clinic algorithm utilizing the well characterized prospective Olmsted County Heart Function Study.

In this study, we aimed to reveal the trends of self-measured blood pressure (SMBP) and SMBP-derived indices during pregnancy and the postpartum period. The Babies and Their Parents Longitudinal Observation in Suzuki Memorial Hospital in the Intrauterine Period (BOSHI) Study is a prospective cohort study in Japan. Participants were instructed to measure SMBP daily during pregnancy and for 1 month after delivery.

Our study aims to assess gender differences in blood pressure (BP) control among hypertensive patients in Jordan and identify factors influencing these differences. We conducted a cross-sectional study at Jordan University Hospital (JUH), collecting data from 601 hypertensive patients following up in JUH clinics. Patients were eligible if they were >18 years old, diagnosed with hypertension, taking anti-hypertensive medication for at least 6 months, and had no chronic kidney disease.

Objective: To evaluate systematically the feasibility and effectiveness of His Bundle Pacing (HBP) for cardiac resynchronization therapy.

Methods: A comprehensive search was conducted in PubMed, EMbase, WOS, Cochrane Library, Medline, and SinoMed for studies published between December 2003 and December 2023. Primary clinical outcomes included implantation success, QRS wave duration, pacing threshold, left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDD), New York Heart Association (NYHA) cardiac function class, and complications.
