Published: July 2018

We demonstrated the top-gate transistors composed of monolayer MoS grown on three-layer alloys Mo WS prepared by sequential sulfurization of predeposited transition metal films. The elemental mapping of the alloy indicates a uniform distribution of both cations Mo and W in the grown samples. Surprisingly, we find that the drain current of transistors could be enhanced by 2 orders of magnitude as the composition of Mo increases, whereas the gate-controlled current modulation turns bipolar and ultimately vanishes. These features might originate from the formation of in-gap defect states, with modest activation energy for transport and moderate hopping probability for current conduction, or a reduced electronic band gap of the conducting channel because of strain.

Peripheral optogenetics is an emerging neuromodulation technique that regulates the activity of the nervous system outside the brain through the expression of photosensitive proteins and the application of photic stimulation. This article reviews recent advances in applying optogenetics to the spinal cord and peripheral nerves, offering a comprehensive understanding of functions and regulatory mechanisms of the peripheral nervous system through the modulation of specific neuronal activities. By showcasing novel opportunities for disease treatment, this technique opens new avenues in the field of psychophysiological research and neural regulation therapy.

People with HIV (PWH) are living longer and experiencing a greater burden of morbidity from non-AIDS-defining conditions. Chronically treated HIV disease is associated with ongoing systemic inflammation that contributes to the development of chronic conditions (eg, cardiovascular disease) and geriatric syndromes (eg, frailty). Apart from HIV disease, a progressive increase in systemic inflammation is a characteristic feature of biologic aging, a process described as "inflammaging.

Hedyotis diffusa Willd. (HDW), a traditional Chinese medicinal plant, exhibits a variety of pharmacological effects and has anticancer potential for a wide range of cancer types; Ferroptosis is a non-apoptosis-regulated cell death induced by iron accumulation and subsequent lipid peroxidation; and there is currently an increasing interest in the therapeutic role of ferroptosis in cancer. However, the effects of HDW on bladder cancer and its underlying molecular mechanisms remain largely unknown.

Developing efficient and cost-effective rare earth element-based electrocatalysts for water splitting remains a significant challenge. To address this, interface engineering and charge modulation strategies were employed to create a three-dimensional coral-like CeF/MoO heterostructure electrocatalyst, grown in situ on the multistage porous channels of carbonized sugarcane fiber (CSF). Integrating abundant CeF/MoO heterostructure interfaces and numerous oxygen vacancy defects significantly enhanced the catalyst's active sites and molecular activation capabilities.

Electronic address:

Sound-induced flash illusion (SiFI) is an auditory-dominant multisensory illusion that can be used to assess multisensory integration. Although previous studies have shown that one-time intervention exercise training does not significantly affect SiFI, the long-term improvement of SiFI with exercise training remains controversial. In the present study, the classical SiFI paradigm was used to investigate the effects of long-term exercise training on the SiFI.
