Support of autonomy, at the onset and while Alzheimer's Disease progresses, is of utmost importance for both older adults and their caregivers. AD-Autonomy project aims at co-creating an innovative training platform with and for elderly people and their caregivers. Main aim of the project is to increase the competencies of older adults and their caregivers to cope with the disease effects, by leveraging existing ICT tools and applications, while transferring their applicability in real life contexts and activities. Initial anecdotal feedback is collected through a co-creation session, where all above themes were discussed and analyzed between seniors, family caregivers and professionals.

Hybrid nonlinear plasmonic waveguides, characterized by a small mode area and large nonlinear susceptibility, present an intriguing and practical platform for the minimization of nonlinear photonic devices. Nevertheless, the intrinsic Ohmic loss associated with surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and modal dispersion imposes constraints on the effective interaction length and, consequently, the ultimate efficiency of nonlinear processes. In this study, we demonstrate an efficient second harmonic generation (SHG) within a hybrid plasmonic waveguide by leveraging SPP-like modes at the fundamental wave and photonic-like modes at the SHG under phase matching conditions.

Purpose: Most auditory-perceptual voice research utilizes the judgments of trained listeners rather than everyday listeners with no previous training in speech pathology. Online crowdsourcing of behavioral data from untrained participants is rapidly increasing in popularity but has yet to be a common procedure for auditory-perceptual studies of the voice. The objective of this pilot study was to assess the functionality of this model for judgments of voice by using an online experiment platform to replicate a lab-based, voice-specific age estimation study.

Introduction: As medical education becomes more complex, the demand for advanced teaching and training methods has grown. Technological advancements have opened up new possibilities, particularly in the realm of virtual reality (VR) simulations for training.
Research Question: Our prospective, randomized pilot study aims to assess whether a novel VR-based 3D training platform can effectively teach the knowledge and skills needed for complex spinal surgery, specifically pedicle screw placement.

Background: The RTK-VEGF4 receptor family, which includes VEGFR-1, VEGFR-2, and VEGFR-3, plays a crucial role in tissue regeneration by promoting angiogenesis, the formation of new blood vessels, and recruiting stem cells and immune cells. Machine learning, particularly graph neural networks (GNNs), has shown high accuracy in predicting these interactions. This study aims to predict drug-gene interactions of the RTK-VEGF4 receptor family in periodontal regeneration using graph neural networks.

Background: Children with disabilities encounter obstacles attaining basic education. Significantly, previous studies on South Africa have shown that up to 70% of the children with disabilities are out of school. Despite efforts to support inclusive education through White Paper 6 policy, the deployment of resources and transformation of the education sector has been a slower process.
