A multicenter retrospective study of early cardiac toxicity in operable breast cancer patients receiving concurrent dual or mono anti-HER2 therapy with postoperative radiation therapy.

Breast

January 2025

Department of Radiation Oncology, Ruijin Hospital, Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine, Shanghai, 200025, China; Shanghai Key Laboratory of Proton Therapy, Shanghai, 201801, China. Electronic address:

Purpose: This study aims to assess whether dual anti-HER2 therapy with trastuzumab and pertuzumab increases early cardiac toxicity compared to trastuzumab alone in breast cancer (BC) patients receiving postoperative radiation therapy (RT).

Methods: Consecutive operable BC patients receiving postoperative RT and trastuzumab with or without pertuzumab between January 2017 and September 2020 at seven tertiary hospitals in China were retrospectively reviewed. Cardiac examinations included echocardiography, electrocardiogram (ECG), NT-proBNP, and cTnI at baseline before RT and during the follow-up.

Spindle cell rhabdomyosarcoma (SCRM), a rare and distinct subtype of RM, predominantly affects children. While SCRM can manifest in the head and neck regions of adults, primary occurrences in the thorax are exceedingly uncommon. In the present study, a 24-year-old female patient was admitted to the Affiliated Hospital of Zunyi Medical University (Zunyi, China) with a 10-month history of dull pain in the right side of the chest.

Clinical Utility of Synthesized 18-Lead Electrocardiography.

Sensors (Basel)

September 2024

Graduate School of Science, Technology and Innovation, Kobe University, Kobe 657-8501, Japan.

Eighteen-lead electrocardiography (18-ECG) includes, in addition to those in standard 12-lead ECG (12-ECG), six additional chest leads: V7-V9 and V3RV5R. Leads V7-V9 require the patient to be in a lateral decubitus position for the electrodes to be attached to the back. Synthesized 18-ECG (syn18-ECG) is a method that only records 12-ECG and uses computational logic to record the posterior wall (V7-V9) and right-sided (V3R-V5R) leads.

Aims: To quantitatively analyse exercise-induced cardiac remodeling (EICR) data in female athletes.

Methods: This scoping review included from the databases Medline, Embase, and Google Scholar, peer-reviewed original English-language articles on female athlete-populations aged ≥18 years containing data on electrocardiography (ECG), echocardiography or cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR), and excluded athletes with cardiovascular conditions. From the extracted ECG data, we calculated prevalence percentages, and from the imaging data we compared the results with the upper reference limits of the general female population (URL).

Aims: Several algorithms can differentiate inferior axis premature ventricular contractions (PVCs) originating from the right side and left side on 12-lead electrocardiograms (ECGs). However, it is unclear whether distinguishing the origin should rely solely on PVC or incorporate sinus rhythm (SR). We compared the dual-rhythm model (incorporating both SR and PVC) to the PVC model (using PVC alone) and quantified the contribution of each ECG lead in predicting the PVC origin for each cardiac rotation.
