Aim: To determine a panel of serum microRNAs (miRNAs) that could be used as novel biomarkers for diagnosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
Methods: We initially screened 9 out of 754 serum miRNAs by TaqMan Low Density Array in two pooled samples respectively from 35 HCC and 35 normal controls, and then validated individually by RT-qPCR in another 114 patients and 114 controls arranged in two phases. The changes of the selected miRNAs after operation and their prognostic value were examined.
Results: miR-375, miR-10a, miR-122 and miR-423 were found to be significantly higher in HCC than in controls ( < 0.0001), and the area under the receiver-operating-characteristic curve for the 4-miRNA panel was 0.995 (95%CI: 0.985-1). All the four miRNAs were significantly reduced after surgical removal of the tumors ( < 0.0001), while still higher than normal controls (at least < 0.05).
Conclusion: The four serum miRNAs (miR-375, miR-10a, miR-122 and miR-423) could potentially serve as novel biomarkers for the diagnostic and prognostic of HCC.

MicroRNA-122 (miR-122) is a vertebrate-specific miRNA that is predominantly expressed in the liver and plays an important role in liver metabolism and development. Dysregulation of miR-122 expression is associated with several liver-related diseases, including hepatocellular carcinoma and drug-induced liver injury (DILI).

The aim of this study was to analyze dihydrolipoyllysine-residue acetyltransferase (DLAT) expression and diagnostic ability in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), assess its role in HCC growth, and factors affecting it. We conducted bioinformatics analyses, examined DLAT expression and prognosis in pre-cancer, and performed Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) enrichment studies while investigating its correlation with immunity. We also predicted regulatory factors, and detected DLAT in HCC cells using quantitative PCR (qPCR) and Western blotting, and in patient serum via enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA).

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is associated with several mild metabolic disorders, including insulin resistance (IR), obesity, and dyslipidemia, as well as with some more severe ones, including type 2 diabetes mellitus, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), and cardiovascular disease. Clinically, mild metabolic complications of PCOS such as IR or lipid metabolism disorders are the predictors of these more severe ones. So far, there is no reliable single marker that enables defining metabolic risk in patients with PCOS.

This study aimed to investigate the mechanism of Xuanhong Dingchuan Tang (XHDCT) in delaying bronchial asthma inflammation via the microRNA (miR)-107-3p/prostaglandin endoperoxide synthase 2 (PTGS2)/mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) axis. Based on the network pharmacological analysis, XHDCT chemical constituents and targets of each chemical constituent were screened through the TCMSP database, and differential-expressed genes of bronchial asthma were obtained from the GEO database, which were intersected to get XHDCT potential anti-inflammatory targets. The key anti-inflammatory targets of XHDCT were acquired by protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis of the candidate targets.
