Heteroatom doping has endowed graphene with manifold aspects of material properties and boosted its applications. The atomic structure determination of doped graphene is vital to understand its material properties. Motivated by the recently synthesized boron-doped graphene with relatively high concentration, here we employ machine learning methods to search the most stable structures of doped boron atoms in graphene, in conjunction with the atomistic simulations. From the determined stable structures, we find that in the free-standing pristine graphene, the doped boron atoms energetically prefer to substitute for the carbon atoms at different sublattice sites and that the para configuration of boron-boron pair is dominant in the cases of high boron concentrations. The boron doping can increase the work function of graphene by 0.7 eV for a boron content higher than 3.1%.

Discovering electrocatalysts that can efficiently convert carbon dioxide (CO) to valuable fuels and feedstocks using excess renewable electricity is an emergent carbon-neutral technology. A single metal atom embedded in doped graphene, , single-atom catalyst (SAC), possesses high activity and selectivity for electrochemical CO reduction (COR) to CO, yet further reduction to hydrocarbons is challenging. Here, using density functional theory calculations, we investigate stability and reactivity of a broad SAC chemical space with various metal centers (3d transition metals) and dopants (2p dopants of B, N, O; 3p dopants of P, S) as electrocatalysts for COR to methane and methanol.

In the present study, a novel voltammetric sensor based on a boron-doped copper oxide/graphene (B-CuO-Gr) nanocomposite and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) was developed for the detection of paclobutrazol (PAC) in apple and orange juice samples. The B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite was prepared using sol-gel and calcination methods. After modifying glassy carbon electrodes with the B-CuO-Gr nanocomposite, PAC-imprinted electrodes were prepared in the presence of 100.

Self-supported hardwood kraft lignin (HKL)/graphene-based carbon fibrous aerogel (L/GCA) presents a fascinating prospect as the electrode of supercapacitor due to its impress rate capacity and cyclic stability. However, the hydrophobicity nature of L/GCA hampers the ion transfer between the electrode and electrolyte, thereby limiting its electrochemical performance. To address this, we enhanced the electrochemical performance of L/GCA through boron doping based on the improvement of hydrophilicity and the re-arrangement of electron density.

The production of hydrogen peroxide (HO) through two-electron oxygen reduction reaction (2e ORR) has emerged as a more environmentally friendly alternative to the traditional anthraquinone method. Although oxidized carbon catalysts have intensive developed due to their high selectivity and activity, the yield and conversion rate of HO under high overpotential still limited. The produced HO was rapidly consumed by the increased intensity of HO reduction, which could ascribe to decomposition of peroxide radicals under high voltage in the carbon catalyst.

Boron-doped diamond (BDD) films are an ideal choice for EC-SC due to their durability and exceptional electrochemical performance. In this study, nanostructured boron-doped ultra-nanocrystalline diamonds (NBUNCD) are fabricated on Si micro-pyramids (Si) using a simple reactive ion etching (RIE) process.
