Published: July 2018

A theranostic conjugate for use as a positron emission tomography (PET) radiotracer and as a photosensitiser for photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been synthesised. A water-soluble porphyrin was coupled with the bifunctional chelate, H4Dpaa.ga. This conjugate is capable of rapid 68Ga complexation under physiological conditions; with 93% and 80% radiochemical yields achieved, at pH 4.5 and pH 7.4 respectively, in 15 min at 25 °C. Photocytotoxicity was evaluated on HT-29 cells and showed the conjugate was capable of >50% cell death at 50 μM upon irradiation with light, while causing minimal toxicity in the absence of light (>95% cell survival).

The adsorption of radioactive iodine is a critical concern in nuclear safety and environmental protection due to its hazardous nature and long half-life. Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have emerged as promising materials for capturing radioactive iodine owing to their tunable porosity, high surface area, and versatile functionalization capabilities. This review provides a comprehensive overview of the application of COFs in the adsorption of radioactive iodine.

Antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) are intricate compounds that pose significant challenges in bioanalytical characterization. Therefore, multiple bioanalytical methods are required to comprehensively elucidate their pharmacokinetic (PK) profiles. In this study, we investigated DS001, an ADC consisting of a humanized monoclonal antibody (hRS7), a cleavable chemical linker, and the microtubule inhibitor monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE), with a drug-to-antibody ratio (DAR) of 8.

ConspectusStructural DNA nanotechnology offers a unique self-assembly toolbox to construct soft materials of arbitrary complexity, through bottom-up approaches including DNA origami, brick, wireframe, and tile-based assemblies. This toolbox can be expanded by incorporating interactions orthogonal to DNA base-pairing such as metal coordination, small molecule hydrogen bonding, π-stacking, fluorophilic interactions, or the hydrophobic effect. These interactions allow for hierarchical and long-range organization in DNA supramolecular assemblies through a DNA-minimal approach: the use of fewer unique DNA sequences to make complex structures.

As a crucial biomarker for the early warning and prognosis of liver cancer diseases, elevated levels of alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) are associated with hepatocellular carcinoma and germ cell tumors. Herein, we present a novel signal-on electrochemical aptamer sensor, utilizing AuNPs-MXene composite materials, for sensitive AFP quantitation. The AuNPs-MXene composite was synthesized through a simple one-step method and modified on portable microelectrodes.

This study reports the development of highly conductive and stretchable fibrous membranes based on PVDF/PAN conjugate electrospinning with embedded silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) for wearable sensing applications. The fabrication process integrated conjugate electrospinning of PVDF/PAN, selective dissolution of polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) to create porous networks, and uniform AgNP incorporation via adsorption-reduction. Systematic optimization revealed that 10 wt.
