The development of green and efficient catalysts for peroxymonosulfate (PMS) activation and abatement of organic pollutants in wastewater is of significant practical interest. In this paper, the three-dimensional mixed manganese oxides of OMS-2 and γ-MnO were fabricated through a simple refluxing method from KMnO and MnSO. It was found that growth of γ-MnO nanoflakes on OMS-2 can be controlled by the concentration of MnSO. The catalysts not only have many excellent structural properties such as interconnected network and highly exposed active sites, but also show the high ratio of low valent manganese species. In particular, the catalysts exhibited much higher efficiency for Acid Orange 7 degradation in the presence of PMS than pure OMS-2 or γ-MnO. The oxidation of Mn(III) species by PMS occurs in the system with the formation of sulfate and hydroxyl radicals contributed to the dye degradation. Moreover, the catalysts showed good stability and reusability during four consecutive cycles. Thus, the environmental friendly mixed manganese oxides of γ-MnO and OMS-2 with low cost, facile synthesis process and high efficiency are very promising catalysts for PMS activation and pollutants degradation.

Bismuth oxyselenide (BiOSe) stands as a highly promising layered semiconductor with outstanding optical, electrical, and thermal properties. For the practical application of the material toward the devices, growing BiOSe directly on the amorphous substrate at low temperatures (<400 °C) is essential; however, the negatively charged bottom Se layer originating from alternating stacks of Se and [BiO] has hindered this process. Primary membranous nephropathy (PMN) is a prevalent renal disorder characterized by immune-mediated damage to the glomerular basement membrane, with recent studies highlighting the significant role of pyroptosis in its progression. In this study, we investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying PMN, focusing on the role of Tumor necrosis factor receptor-associated factor 6 (TRAF6) in promoting disease advancement. Specifically, we examine how TRAF6 facilitates PMN progression by inducing the ubiquitination of Transforming growth factor-beta-activated kinase 1 (TAK1), which in turn activates the Gasdermin D (GSDMD)/Caspase-1 axis, leading to podocyte pyroptosis.

Background: Global comparisons of the burden and impact of cancers of the brain and central nervous system (CNS) are critical for developing effective control strategies and generating etiological hypotheses to drive future research.

Methods: National incidence estimates were obtained from GLOBOCAN 2022, and recorded incidence data from the Cancer in Five Continents series, both developed and compiled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. We examined the estimated age-standardized incidence rates in 185 countries, as well as time trends in recorded incidence in 35 countries, quantifying the direction and change in the magnitude of the rates using the estimated average percentage change (EAPC).
