Since late 2021, outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza virus have caused a record number of mortalities in wild birds, domestic poultry, and mammals in North America. Wetlands are plausible environmental reservoirs of avian influenza virus; however, the transmission and persistence of the virus in the aquatic environment are poorly understood. To explore environmental contamination with the avian influenza virus, a large-volume concentration method for detecting infectious avian influenza virus in waterbodies was developed.

This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluate human papillomavirus (HPV) prevalence, genotype distribution, and associations with cervicovaginal microbiota and cytokine profiles among South African women, where cervical cancer ranks as the second most common cancer. PubMed, SCOPUS, and Web of Science were searched for studies on HPV infection up to 21 September 2024. The pooled prevalence was estimated using a random-effects model, with subgroup analyses by province, sample type, and HIV status.

Methylene blue is a cationic organic dye commonly found in wastewater, groundwater, and surface water due to industrial discharge into the environment. This emerging pollutant is notably persistent and can pose risks to both human health and the environment. In this study, we developed a Surface Plasmon Resonance Biosensor employing a BK7 prism coated with 3 nm chromium and 50 nm of gold in the Kretschmann configuration, specifically for the detection of methylene blue.

To eliminate the noise interference caused by continuous external environmental disturbances on the rotor signals of a maglev gyroscope, this study proposes a noise reduction method that integrates an adaptive particle swarm optimization variational modal decomposition algorithm with a strategy for error compensation of the trend term in reconstructed signals, significantly improving the azimuth measurement accuracy of the gyroscope torque sensor. The optimal parameters for the variational modal decomposition algorithm were determined using the adaptive particle swarm optimization algorithm, allowing for the accurate decomposition of noisy rotor signals. Additionally, using multi-scale permutation entropy as a criterion for discriminant, the signal components were filtered and summed to obtain the denoised reconstructed signal.

In recent years, significant research has been directed towards the taxonomy of malware variants. Nevertheless, certain challenges persist, including the inadequate accuracy of sample classification within similar malware families, elevated false-negative rates, and significant processing time and resource consumption. Malware developers have effectively evaded signature-based detection methods.
