Background/objectives: Influenza vaccination is recommended for pregnant women, offering the dual benefit of protecting pregnant women and their newborn infants against influenza. In this paper, we report on the measurement of the optical properties (absorption and scattering coefficients) of photoluminescent turbid media using a homemade integrating sphere setup equipped with a tunable monochromatic light source. The hemispherical reflectance and transmission data are analyzed with the radiative transfer equation using a Monte Carlo simulation-based lookup table to obtain the optical properties of the sample. The results are compared with the optical properties received from a classical integrating sphere setup equipped with a broadband white light source.

Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is the most common type of fibrosis in lungs, characterized as a chronic and progressive interstitial lung disease involving pathological findings of fibrosis with a median survival of 3 years. Despite the knowledge accumulated regarding IPF from basic and clinical research, an effective medical therapy for the condition remains to be established. Thus, it is necessary for further research, including stem cell therapy, which will provide new insights into and expectations for IPF treatment.

Background/objectives: The COVID-19 pandemic created many challenges for health services, particularly during lockdown periods. Asthma is one of the most common childhood conditions, and children with asthma are generally cared for in an outpatient setting. In regional Northwest Tasmania, during the COVID-19 lockdowns, asthma and allergy outpatient clinic services were transferred to a virtual platform in the form of telehealth appointments for routine consultations.
