Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

School of Psychological Sciences and Turner Institute for Brain and Mental Health, Monash University, Monash, VIC, Australia.

Background: Diagnostic and prognostic decisions about Alzheimer's disease (AD) are more accurate when based on large data sets. We developed and validated a machine learning (ML) data harmonization tool for aggregation of prospective data from neuropsychological tests applied to study AD. The online ML-combine application (OML-combine app) allows researchers to utilize the ML-harmonization method for harmonization of their own data with that from other large available data bases (e.

Background: With the recent approval of lecanemab, a disease-modifying therapy (DMT) for Alzheimer's Disease (AD), there is an urgent need to address healthcare system challenges to ensure the safe, effective, and sustainable delivery of approved DMT drugs. Understanding public perceptions of these challenges through online surveys might be helpful. Achieving sufficient responses that reflect the characteristics of the respondents is crucial for a successful online survey, however, details about the respondent characteristics for this kind of survey are largely uncertain.

Background: The Visual Short Term Memory Binding (VSTMBT) task is a gold-standard cognitive assessment for the identification of Alzheimer's Disease and associated risk factors, including during the preclinical stage. Previous work from our group (Butler, Watermeyer, …& Parra 2024) demonstrated in a small number (n=37) of healthy older adults that data collected using a web-based, self-administrated version of the task provides data comparable to that collected in laboratory conditions. Here we incorporated a machine learning (ML) approach to explore impacts of risk factors on this task in a larger digital dataset.

Alzheimers Dement

December 2024

Department of Clinical, Educational, and Health Psychology, Division of Psychology and Language Sciences, University College London, London, United Kingdom.

Background: How people affected by non-memory-led and inherited dementias (NMLDs) interact with online health resources is poorly understood. We conducted the world's largest survey exploring 'digital access in non-memory-led dementias' to learn directly from people with NMLD, their care partners and NMLD Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) about the NMLD experience interacting with web-based health resources.

Method: Four surveys [for individuals diagnosed with NMLD, care partners, care partner proxy for person with NMLD, HCP proxy] were co-developed with people with NMLD experience.
