Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between the number of live births and the incidence of bipolar disorder and major depression (BDMD) in women in the UK.
  • Utilizing data from over 55,000 participants, the research employs various statistical methods to analyze this relationship and control for potential biases.
  • Findings suggest that having more live births may lower the risk of BDMD, with the lowest risk observed in women who have two children, which is significant amidst concerns about declining fertility rates and rising mental health issues.

Background: People with severe mental illness (SMI) such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder are at a substantially higher risk of premature death in that they die between 10 and 20 years earlier than the general population. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and diabetes are the main potentially avoidable contributors to early death. Research that explores the experiences of people with SMI highlights their struggles in engaging with health professionals and accessing effective and timely interventions for physical health conditions.

Background: Endometriosis diagnosed in adults is associated with increased risk of various psychiatric disorders. However, little is known concerning psychiatric comorbidity and mortality due to external causes associated with endometriosis diagnosed at a young age.

Objective: This longitudinal cohort study aimed to investigate the link between surgical diagnosis of endometriosis at a young age and subsequent psychiatric disorders and mortality due to external causes.

In this work we consider an efficient algorithm for variational calculations of quantum few-particle systems in S, P, and D states of the even parity using all-particle explicitly correlated Gaussian (ECG) basis sets. We primarily focus on the description of states where the dominant configuration contains either two particles in p states or a single particle in a d state (all other particles are in s states). The basis functions we consider are products of spherically symmetric ECGs and bipolar harmonics.

Objective: Electroencephalogram (EEG), which is frequently used in the clinical practice of neurology, has also been investigated in eating disorders and some cortical dysfunctions have been reported. Based on this, we aimed to investigate EEG changes in pregnant women with hyperemesis gravidarum (HEG).

Materials And Methods: This case-control study was conducted on 66 pregnant women who applied to the Umraniye Training and Research Hospital, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
