Article Abstract

An intermolecular oxidative dearomatization of β-naphthols with N-hydroxycarbamates promoted by visible light was realized by means of photogenerated β-naphthol radical cation intermediates. With a commercially available organic dye, the naphthalenones bearing a fully substituted stereogenic center were obtained with up to 92 % yield under aerobic conditions (26 examples). In addition, the rearrangement of C-O coupling products to C-N coupling compounds could be achieved merely in the presence of Cs CO . This transformation simultaneously provides an attractive and synthetically useful approach to access the aminative dearomatization compounds.

A C-H Arylation-Based Enantioselective Synthesis of Planar Chiral Cyclophanes.

Angew Chem Int Ed Engl

January 2025

University of Basel, Department of Chemistry, St. Johanns-Ring 19, 4056, Basel, SWITZERLAND.

Despite the growing importance of planar chiral macrocyclophanes owing to their unique properties in different areas of chemistry, methods that are effective in controlling their planar chirality are restricted to certain molecular scaffolds. Herein, we report the first Pd(0)-catalyzed enantioselective intermolecular C-H arylation that induces planar chirality by installing bulky aryl groups through dynamic kinetic resolution (DKR). A computer-assisted approach allowed a fine-tuning of the structure of the employed chiral bifunctional phosphine-carboxylate ligands to achieve high enantioselectivities.

Proton-electron mixed conductors (PEMCs) are an essential component for potential applications in hydrogen separation and energy conversion devices. However, the exploration of PEMCs with excellent mixed conduction, which is quantified by the ambipolar conductivity, σ = σσ/(σ + σ) (σ: electronic conductivity; σ: proton conductivity), is still a great challenge, largely due to the lack of structural characterization of both conducting mechanisms. In this study, we prepared a molecule-based proton-electron mixed-conducting cation radical salt, (ET)[Pt(pop)(Hpop)]·PhCN (ET: bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene, pop: PHO), by electrocrystallization.

The relative reactivity and cis/trans selectivity of the intramolecular [3+2] cycloaddition (IM32CA) reactions of nitrile oxide (NO), azide (AZ), nitrile sulfide (NS) and nitrile ylide (NY), leading to functionalized heterocycles are studied within the Molecular Electron Density Theory. The kinetically controlled IM32CA reactions are predicted to be cis stereospecific, while the reaction feasibility follows the order NY > NS > NO > AZ with the respective activation Gibbs free energies of 13.7, 17.

α-Halo borides are generally constructed Matteson homologation, and the synthesis of both fluorinated and functionalized ambiphilic boronates is challenging and has received inadequate attention. Herein, we describe the -methyliminodiacetyl boronate [B(MIDA)]-directed halogenation of alkenes a complementary sequence involving fluoroalkyl radical addition followed by guided radical-to-metal oxidative addition and C-X reductive elimination. The alkali cation and functional groups in B(MIDA) enable coulombic interaction and weak attraction with halogens, which could weaken the Pd-X bond and assist in C-X bond formation and is verified by DFT calculations.

Recent Advances in the Mechanisms of Quality Degradation and Control Technologies for Peanut Butter: A Literature Review.

January 2025

Key Laboratory of Geriatric Nutrition and Health, Ministry of Education, School of Food and Health, Beijing Technology and Business University, Beijing 100080, China.

As the quality of life continues to improve globally, there is an increasing demand for nutritious and high-quality food products. Peanut butter, a widely consumed and nutritionally valuable product, must meet stringent quality standards and exhibit excellent stability to satisfy consumer expectations and maintain its competitive position in the market. However, its high fat content, particularly unsaturated fatty acids, makes it highly susceptible to quality deterioration during storage.
