Objectives: Investigate the influence of benazepril and amlodipine on the expression of secretin (PZ) and somatostatin (SS) in spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR).

Methods: Forty-five SHRs (14 weeks old, male) were randomly assigned into 3 groups (=15):SHR group, Benazepril group (which was given benazepril 0.90 mg·kg·d) and Amlodipine group (SHRs were given amlodipine 0.45 mg· kg·d), taking WistarKyoto(WKY) as normal control (=15), meanwhile, rats in SHR group and WKY group were given the same volume of distilled water. After 8 weeks of intervention, the expression of protein and mRNA of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi was detected by enzyme-linked immunoassay and RT-PCR.

Results: After 8 weeks of intervention, compared with the WKY group, the expression of protein and mRNA of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi was increased significantly in SHR group (<0. 05). Compared with SHR group, the expression of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi was decreased significantly in Benazepril group and Amlodipine group (<0.05). Compared with Benazepril group, in Amlodipine group the expression of PZ mRNA in duodenum and SS mRNA in sinuses ventriculi was decreased more significantly (<0.05).

Conclusions: The regulation disorder of PZ in duodenum and SS in sinuses ventriculi exists in SHR. The antihypertensive effect of benazepril and amlodipine may be realized by regulating the expression of PZ and SS, while the regulation of amlodipine is more obvious than benazepril.

Article Synopsis
  • The patient underwent unsuccessful intrauterine insemination and was later recommended IVF with intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) after a month of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) supplementation, which improved her ovarian function.
  • Following the ICSI procedure, she achieved a positive pregnancy outcome, highlighting the potential benefits of DHEA in infertility treatment and suggesting the need for more research on its effects.

Background: Tubulointerstitial fibrosis (TIF) is a critical pathological feature of chronic renal failure (CRF), with oxidative stress (OS) and hypoxic responses in renal proximal tubular epithelial cells playing pivotal roles in disease progression. This study explores the effects of Modified Zhenwu Tang (MZWT) on these processes, aiming to uncover its potential mechanisms in slowing CRF progression.

Methods: We used adenine (Ade) to induce CRF in rats, which were then treated with benazepril hydrochloride (Lotensin) and MZWT for 8 weeks.

Evaluation of a miniature mass spectrometer based point-of-care-test method for direct analysis of amlodipine and benazepril in whole blood.

Panvascular Diseases Research Center, The Quzhou Affiliated Hospital of Wenzhou Medical University, Quzhou People's Hospital, Quzhou 324000, China; Laboratory of Food Nutrition and Clinical Research, Institute of Seafood, Zhejiang Gongshang University, Hangzhou, China. Electronic address:

A miniature mass spectrometer (mMS) based point-of-care testing (POCT) method was evaluated for on-site detecting the hypertension drugs, amlodipine and benazepril. The instrument parameters, including voltage, ISO1, ISO2, and CID, were optimized, under which the target compounds could be well detected in MS. When these two drugs were injected simultaneously, the mutual ionization inhibition and mutual reduction between amlodipine and benazepril were evaluated.

Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates how azilsartan affects heart structure changes after a heart attack (AMI) in patients undergoing treatment.
  • 200 AMI patients were randomly assigned to receive either azilsartan or benazepril, with their heart function assessed through various tests over a year.
  • Results showed that azilsartan led to better heart size and function improvement compared to benazepril, suggesting it could be effective for managing heart changes post-AMI.

Background: Personalized dosing regimens have great potential to improve the standard level of care from "one-fits-all" to the "right dose, to the right patient at the right time".

Objectives: Development of a digital interface that can inform healthcare professionals on the dosing of an ACE inhibitor on an individual basis.

Methods: A physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) model and a one-compartment model were implemented for the prodrug benazepril and its metabolite benazeprilat, respectively.
