The increasing incidence of gastric cancer (GC) in the Kashmir Valley is concerning, but its root causes are largely unknown. Dysregulated activation of the Hedgehog signaling pathway has been linked to various cancers, and the Human Hedgehog Interacting Protein (HHIP), a tumor suppressor, is frequently dysregulated in malignancies. However, the expression of the HHIP gene in GC is inconsistent and poorly understood.

Introduction: Periodontal disease is one of the most common oral diseases in dogs and humans. It starts with gingivitis, a reversible condition, and progresses to an irreversible condition, periodontitis. Unlike humans, the etiology of periodontal disease in dogs has not been widely studied.

Background: Ischemic stroke is the second leading cause of death and the third leading cause of combined disability and mortality globally. While reperfusion therapies play a critical role in the management of acute ischemic stroke (AIS), their applicability is limited, leaving many patients with significant neurological deficits and poor prognoses. Neuroprotective agents have garnered attention for their potential as adjunct therapies; however, their relative efficacy remains unclear.

Purpose: Self-management is the intrinsically controlled ability of an active, responsible, informed and autonomous individual to live with the medical, role and emotional consequences of his chronic conditions in partnership with his social network and the healthcare providers. This study evaluated the self-management behaviours of patients with rheumatoid arthritis and assess the association between health beliefs and self-management behaviours.
Methods: This cross-sectional study investigated 269 rheumatoid arthritis patients' self-management behaviours using the Self-Care Behaviours Scale with a score of 0-4 for each item and a total score of 0-100 points, and health beliefs using the Arthritis Health Belief Inventory with a score of 1-5 for each item and a total score of 0-165 points.

Background: Pit mud (PM) hosts diverse microbial communities, which serve as a medium to impart flavor and quality to Baijiu and exhibit long-term tolerance to ethanol and acids, resulting in a unique ecosystem. However, the ecology and metabolic functions of PM remain poorly understood, as many taxa in PM represent largely novel lineages. In this study, we used a combination of metagenomic analysis and chemical derivatization LC-MS analysis to provide a comprehensive overview of microbial community structure, metabolic function, phylogeny, horizontal gene transfer, and the relationship with carboxyl compounds in spatiotemporal PM samples.
