Polymyxins have been available since the 1960s, however, because of their adverse effects, their use has been reserved for the treatment of infections caused by multiresistant bacteria. The increase in the clinical experience acquired in recent years and the published medical literature have raised doubts about the information provided by the product, indicating the need to update dosage recommendations, pharmacokinetics and pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic information (PK/PD). In addition, differences in concentration and dose between the different products of colistin may lead to errors of indication/administration and pose a risk to patients. In 2013, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) commissioned the Committee for Medicinal Products for Human Use (CHPM) to review available data and to make updated recommendations on the use of colistin. This procedure yielded a first report in 2014. This review highlights critical safety and efficacy aspects, reviews the recent pharmacokinetic and stability advances, the available pharmaceutical forms in Chile, providing the schemes currently recommended by health care agencies and experts in the field.

Acting as the interface between the human body and its environment, clothing is indispensable in human thermoregulation and even survival under extreme environmental conditions. Development of clothing textiles with prolonged passive temperature-adaptive thermoregulation without external energy consumption is much needed for protection from thermal stress and energy saving, but very challenging. Here, a temperature-adaptive thermoregulation filament (TATF) consisting of thermoresponsive vacuum cavities formed by the temperature-responsive volume change of the material confined in the cellular cores of the filament is proposed.

Silver nanowire (Ag NW)-based elastic conductors have been considered a promising candidate for key stretchable electrodes in wearable devices. However, the weak interface interaction of Ag NWs and elastic substrates leads to poor durability of electronic devices. For everyday usage, an additional self-healing ability is required to resist scratching and damage.

Chirality epitomizes the sophistication of chemistry, representing some of its most remarkable achievements. Yet, the precise synthesis of chiral structures from achiral building blocks remains a profound and enduring challenge in synthetic chemistry and materials science. Here, we demonstrate that achiral colloidal nanocrystals, including Au and Ag nanocrystals, can assemble into long-range-ordered helical assemblies with the assistance of chiral molecules.

Purpose: To report a case of biopsy-proven sarcoidosis in a patient with panuveitis and a positive interferon-gamma release assay (IGRA) from a non-endemic tuberculosis (TB) country.
Methods: Case report.
Results: A 26-year-old male from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) presented with granulomatous panuveitis characterized by mutton-fat keratic precipitates, anterior chamber and vitreous cells, and retinal vasculitis.
