Enterohemorrhagic (EHEC) is a common pathotype of that causes numerous outbreaks of foodborne illnesses. EHEC is a zoonotic pathogen that is transmitted from animals to humans. Ruminants, particularly cattle, are considered important reservoirs for virulent EHEC strains.

A couple presented to the office with an apparently healthy infant for a thorough clinical assessment, as they had previously lost two male children to a neurodegenerative disorder. They also reported the death of a male cousin abroad with a comparable condition. We aimed to evaluate a novel coding pathogenic variant c.

Ticks are hematophagous ectoparasites that transmit pathogens and inflict significant economic losses on the cattle industry. Remarkably, they can survive extended periods of starvation in the absence of a host. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the metabolic adaptations that enable the tick to endure starvation using the BME26 cell line as a model system.

Objectives: Chlamydia trachomatis is the most commonly diagnosed bacterial sexually transmitted infection (STI) worldwide. Diagnosis relies on nucleic acid amplification techniques, such as PCR, which does not distinguish between viable pathogens and residual bacterial DNA, leading to potential overdiagnosis and overtreatment. PCR with confirmation of pathogen viability has not been widely explored in the STI field.

Background: Recurrent vaginal discharge is an important cause of repeated visits to the gynaecologists. Failure to correctly identify the causative organism with standard microscopy and culture techniques results in repeated unsuccessful treatment and the risk of developing antibiotic resistance. Multiplex PCR test is increasingly being used for investigating infections where multiple organisms may be involved.
