A study on the electrochemical oxidation of piperazine and its electrochemical copolymerization with aniline in acidic medium is presented. It was found that the homopolymerization of piperazine cannot be achieved under electrochemical conditions. A combination of electrochemistry, in situ Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), and ex situ X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) spectroscopies was used to characterize both the chemical structure and the redox behavior of an electrochemically synthesized piperazine⁻aniline copolymer. The electrochemical sensing properties of the deposited material were also tested against ascorbic acid and dopamine as redox probes.

A self-powered dual-electrode aptasensor was developed for the detection of tumor marker carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The composite BiVO/ZnInS, which is capable of forming a Z-scheme heterojunction, was chosen as the photoanode, and the AuNP/CuBiO complex was chosen as the photocathode in photoelectrochemical (PEC) detection. The experiments showed that the constructed self-powered dual-electrode system had a good photoelectric response to white light, and the photocurrent signal of the photocathode was significantly enhanced under the influence of the photoanode.

The electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) to methane (CH4) presents a promising solution for mitigating CO2 emissions while producing valuable chemical feedstocks. Although single-atom catalysts have shown potential in selectively converting CO2 to CH4, their limited active sites often hinder the realization of high current densities, posing a selectivity-activity dilemma. In this study, we developed a single-atom cobalt (Co) doped copper catalyst (Co1Cu) that achieved a CH4 Faradaic efficiency exceeding 60% with a partial current density of -482.

Au nanoclusters often demonstrate useful optical properties such as visible/near-infrared photoluminescence in addition to remarkable thermodynamic stability owing to their superatomic behavior. The smallest of the 8e- superatomic Au nanoclusters, Au11, has limited applications due to its lack of luminescence and relatively low stability. In this work, we investigate the introduction of a single Pt dopant to the center of a halide- and triphenylphosphine-ligated Au11 nanocluster, obtaining a cluster with a proposed molecular formula PtAu10(PPh3)7Br3.

Department of Chemistry, Manipal Institute of Technology, Manipal Academy of Higher Education, Manipal 576104, Karnataka, India.

The potential of advanced energy storage devices lies in using solid biodegradable polymer electrolytes. This study is focused on a solid blend polymer electrolyte (SBPE) film based on chitosan (CS)-poly (vinyl alcohol) (PVA) blend matrix doped with magnesium chloride (MgCl) salt via solution casting. The interaction of MgCl was verified via X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy.

In this research, tartaric acid was used to enhance the hydroxyapatite coating on AZ31 Mg alloy substrate through post-treatment and direct addition methods, and the corrosion resistance and biological activity of the samples were investigated. The parameters of concentration, immersion time, and pH of the coating solution were optimized by Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and Direct Current (DC) Polarization techniques. According to EIS results in the post-treatment method, tartaric acid with a concentration of 1 g/L, pH = 9 and immersion time of 2 min, increased the corrosion resistance of hydroxyapatite coating from 3630 to about 18,763 Ω.
