A chiral Zn porphyrin derivative 1 and its achiral analogue 2 were studied in the solid state. Considering the rich molecular recognition of designed metalloporphyrins 1 and 2 and their tendency to crystallize, they were recrystallized from two solvent mixtures (CH Cl /CH OH and CH Cl /hexane). As a result, four different crystalline arrangements (1 a,b and 2 a,b, from 0D to 2D) were obtained. Solid-state studies were performed on all the species to analyze the role played by chirality, solvent mixtures, and surfaces (mica and HOPG) in the supramolecular arrangements. By means of combinations of solvents and substrates a variety of microsized species was obtained, from vesicles to flower-shaped arrays, including geometrical microcrystals. Overall, the results emphasize the environmental susceptibility of metalloporphyrins and how this feature must be taken into account in their design.

The selection of a biomaterial plays a very important role for the development of scaffolds for biomedical applications. Amidst, the development of nanofibrous scaffolds through electrospinning technique by selecting a suitable polymer is of more importance. Poly (2-ethyl-2-oxazoline) (PEOX) is one among the selected polymers that can be employed for electrospinning for the development of scaffolds for biomedical applications.

Desalination of seawater by forward osmosis is a technology potentially able to address the global water scarcity problem. The major challenge limiting its widespread practical application is the design of a draw solute that can be separated from water by an energetically efficient process and then reused for the next cycle. Recent experiments demonstrate that a promising draw solute for forward-osmosis desalination is tetrabutylphosphonium 2,4,6-trimethylbenzenesulfonate ([P][TMBS]).

In this work, two novel (-)-menthol-based hydrophobic natural eutectic solvents with vanillin and cinnamic acid were prepared and applied as extraction solvents. In this regard, 12 endocrine disruptors, including phenol, 2,4-dimethylphenol, 2,3,6-trimethylphenol, 4--butylphenol, 4--butylphenol, 4--amylphenol, 4--hexylphenol, 4--octylphenol, 4--heptylphenol, 4--octylphenol, and 4--nonylphenol and bisphenol A, were studied in a green tea drink. A temperature-controlled liquid-liquid microextraction was used as the extraction method, and nano-liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detection was used as the separation and determination system.

Green chemistry focuses on reducing the environmental impacts of chemicals through sustainable practices. Traditional methods for extracting bioactive compounds from leaves, such as hydro-distillation and organic solvent extraction, have limitations, including long extraction times, high energy consumption, and potential toxic solvent residues. This study explored the use of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE), pressurized liquid extraction (PLE), and gas-expanded liquid (GXL) processes to improve efficiency and selectivity.

Nonideality in a binary solvent mixture is manifested through anomalies in various physical properties like viscosity, dielectric constant, polarity, freezing point, boiling point, and so forth. Sometimes, such anomalies become much more prominent, leading to a synergistic behavior, where the physical property of the mixture is way different from its bulk counterparts. Various alcohols/chlorinated methane binary solvent mixtures show such a synergistic behavior.
