Members of the genus have been isolated from geographically diverse ecosystems and exhibit considerable metabolic flexibility, as well as biotechnological and pathogenic properties in some species. This study reports the draft assembly and detailed sequence analysis of strain 56AF. The de novo-assembled genome is 4,556,707 bp in size and contains 4294 protein-coding and 95 RNA genes, including 88 tRNA, six rRNA, and one tmRNA operon. A repertoire of genes implicated in virulence, for example, hemolysin, hemolytic enterotoxins, colicin V, lytic proteins, and Nudix hydrolases, is present. The genome also contains a collection of genes of biotechnological interest, including esterases, lipase, auxins, chitinases, phytoene synthase and phytoene desaturase, polyhydroxyalkanoates, violacein, plastocyanin/azurin, and detoxifying compounds. Importantly, unlike other species, the 56AF genome contains genes for pore-forming toxin alpha-hemolysin, a type IV secretion system, among others. The analysis of the strain 56AF genome reveals the versatility, adaptability, and biotechnological potential of this bacterium. This study provides molecular information that may pave the way for further comparative genomics and functional studies involving -related isolates and improves our understanding of the global genomic diversity of species.

The aim of this study is to investigate the impact of using probiotics with strains related to dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid production on clinical features of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and/or attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This randomized, controlled trial involved 38 children with ADHD and 42 children with ASD, aged 5-16 years, who received probiotics (Lactiplantibacillus plantarum and Levilactobacillus brevis 109/cfu/daily) or placebo for 12 weeks. Parent-reported symptoms were assessed using Conners' 3rd-Ed and the Social Responsiveness Scale Test, 2nd-Ed (SRS-2), and children completed the Conners Continuous Performance Test, 3rd-Ed (CPT 3) or Conners Kiddie CPT, 2nd-Ed (K-CPT 2).

Many viruses of the Flaviviridae family, including the Zika virus (ZIKV), are human pathogens of significant public health concerns. Despite extensive research, there are currently no approved vaccines available for ZIKV and specifically no live-attenuated Zika vaccine. In this current study, we suggest a novel computational algorithm for generating live-attenuated vaccines via the introduction of silent mutation into regions that undergo selection for strong or weak local RNA folding or into regions that exhibit medium levels of sequence conservation.

Background: Biological control methods involving entomopathogenic fungi like Beauveria bassiana have been shown to be a valuable approach in integrated pest management as an environmentally friendly alternative to control pests and pathogens. Identifying genetic determinants of pathogenicity in B. bassiana is instrumental for enhancing its virulence against insects like the resistant soybean pest Piezodorus guildinii.

Background: Despite a phenylalanine (Phe) restrictive diet, most adult patients with 'classical' phenylketonuria (PKU) maintain life-long Phe concentrations above the normal range and receive tyrosine (Tyr) and protein-enriched diets to maintain acceptable concentrations and ensure normal development. While these interventions are highly successful in preventing adverse neuropsychiatric complications, their long- term consequences are incompletely explored. We observed early cardiomyopathic characteristics and associated hemodynamic changes in adult PKU patients and present here the results of a longitudinal evaluation of cardiac phenotype.

Background: Previously, eight new alkaloids were obtained from the fermentation extract of termite-associated Streptomyces tanashiensis BYF-112. However, genome analysis indicated the presence of many undiscovered secondary metabolites in S. tanashiensis BYF-112.
