Published: August 2018

Late-stage BODIPY diversification of structurally complex amino acids and peptides was accomplished by racemization-free palladium-catalyzed C(sp )-H activation. Transformative fluorescence modification proved viable by triazole-assisted C(sp )-H arylation in a chemo- and site-selective fashion, providing modular access to novel BODIPY peptide sensors.

Structure and function of a near fully-activated intermediate GPCR-Gαβγ complex.

Nat Commun

January 2025

Department of Molecular Biosciences, University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave, Tampa, FL, 33620, USA.

Unraveling the signaling roles of intermediate complexes is pivotal for G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) drug development. Despite hundreds of GPCR-Gαβγ structures, these snapshots primarily capture the fully activated complex. Consequently, the functions of intermediate GPCR-G protein complexes remain elusive.

Gastric cancer (GC) is a highly aggressive and heterogeneous malignancy. The process of ferroptosis regulates tumor growth and represents a promising therapeutic target for GCs. Despite Salidroside (Sal) being able to regulate ferroptosis in a variety of diseases, there are still limited reports on its therapeutic effects and potential targets in treating GC.

Article Synopsis
  • The aging population is leading to a significant rise in Alzheimer's disease cases, making early detection crucial.
  • Researchers developed a plasmon-enhanced fluorescence (PEF) sensor using gold nanobipyramids (Au NBPs) to visually detect amyloid-beta protein aggregation, a key marker for Alzheimer's.
  • The sensor utilizes a near-infrared fluorescent substance for a highly sensitive detection method, which allows real-time monitoring of Aβ aggregation in human neuroblastoma cells, showing potential as an effective diagnostic tool for Alzheimer's disease.

Peptide-induced chirality transfer and circularly polarized luminescence in achiral BODIPY emitters halogen bonding.

Chem Commun (Camb)

January 2025

School of Applied and Interdisciplinary Sciences, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS), 2A and 2B Raja S. C. Mullick Road, Jadavpur, Kolkata 700032, India.

This study explores peptide-mediated chiral induction and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) in achiral BODIPY dyes, leading to a high value of up to -1.2 × 10 through orthogonal halogen bonding and hydrogen bonding. It unravels the impact of these combined directional interactions on the formation of heterostructures and their thermal stability.

Background: A controlled type of cell death called ferroptosis is linked to increased reactive oxygen species (ROS), lipid peroxidation, and iron buildup. Furthermore, evidence indicates that ferroptosis may act as an immunogenic form of cell death with potential physiological functions in tumors and immunosuppression. Inducing ferroptosis in tumor cells may have the potential to complement cancer immunotherapy strategies.
