The partitioning of photosynthate among various forest carbon pools is a key process regulating long-term carbon sequestration, with allocation to aboveground woody biomass carbon (AGBC) in particular playing an outsized role in the global carbon cycle due to its slow residence time. However, directly estimating the fraction of gross primary productivity (GPP) that goes to AGBC has historically been difficult and time-consuming, leaving us with persistent uncertainties. We used an extensive dataset of tree-ring chronologies co-located at flux towers to assess the coupling between AGBC and GPP, calculate the fraction of fixed carbon that is allocated to AGBC, and understand the drivers of variability in this fraction.

Atrial fibrillation (AF) frequently presents in emergency departments (EDs), contributing significantly to adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Despite established guidelines, ED management of AF often varies, revealing important gaps in care. This review addresses specific challenges in AF management for patients in the ED, including the nuances of rate versus rhythm control, the timing of anticoagulation initiation, and patient disposition.

Introduction: Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) has been a pivotal scientific technique since the twentieth century, and it is widely applied across various domains. Despite its ubiquity, challenges persist in efficiently amplifying specific DNA templates.
Method: While PCR experimental procedures have garnered significant attention, the analysis of the DNA template, which is the experiment's focal point, has been notably overlooked.
Despite an increasing number of studies examining the effect of Single-Photon Emission Computed Tomography/ Computed Tomography (SPECT/CT) on improvement of diagnosis of aseptic loosening, there is still a great deal of uncertainty regarding its applicability in diagnostic algorithm. Therefore, in this meta-analysis, we aimed to investigate the diagnostic performance of SPECT/CT for identification of aseptic loosening in patients with persistent pain following the total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and total hip arthroplasty (THA). Electronic databases including Medline, Scopus, Web of Science, Cochrane library, and Embase were systematically searched for identifying relevant published studies from their inception to April 2023.

Improving and expanding ground-based field methods for measuring the above-ground biomass (AGB) may enable more sample collections across a landscape and over succession regimes and better harmonize with other remote sensing techniques. Developments and increased adoption of unoccupied aerial systems (UAS) and instrumentation for vegetation monitoring enable greater understanding of vegetation in many ecosystems.
