Heating a mixture of boron (impurities: carbon ∼ BC, boric acid - HBO) and tantalum (Ta) powders in nitrogen flow in a xenon high-flux optical furnace was performed. As-received powder composed of h-BN, HBO, TaB, BH and a number of other phases including β-rhombohedral boron, apparently, heavily doped with Ta. FT-IR examination of any sample of the material reveals the complicated vibration spectrum containing, in particular, an absorption band near 2260 cm. The shapes of these bands are different for samples because powders were synthesized at different temperatures. Known, that in β-rhombohedral boron lattice, there are nano-sized voids of different types, which allow an accommodation of single atoms or small groups of atoms. Theoretical calculations performed by the method of quasi-classical type yields the same value, 2260 cm, for the vibrations frequency of Ta atoms in D-type crystallographic voids in β-rhombohedral boron lattice. Since, Ta atoms are known to prefer accommodation just in D-voids the experimentally detected bands can be identified with localized vibrations of Ta atoms.

In this work, a new biomass boron adsorbent of N-methyl-D-glucosamine embedded sodium alginate/polyethyleneimine/polysiloxane composite aerogel (SKPN) was reported. Relevant characterization proved that the aerogel exhibited 3D porous structure with plenty of hydroxyl and amino functional groups, which was beneficial to the diffusion of boron and the chelation between boron and SKPN. Various parameters affecting the adsorption performance including pH value, contact time initial concentration, temperature and reusability were investigated.

α-Fluoro-α'-aryl ketones are crucial in pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals. However, synthesizing unsymmetrical α-fluoro-α'-aryl ketones poses regioselective challenges. This study presents a one-pot aryl-oxy-fluorination method for synthesizing such unsymmetrical fluoro-aryl ketones.

A series of N-Het·BH and AAE·BH complexes were prepared in moderate to high yields and the single-crystal structures of products 3, 31, 34, and 59 were determined. The N-Het·BH and AAE·BH complexes possess high stability, endowing these products with potential applications in luminescent and boron-containing drugs. The optical properties of the representative products have been preliminarily studied.

This letter discusses the potential influence of dietary boron on osteoporosis in postmenopausal women, a demographic significantly affected by this condition. Recent studies suggest that boron plays a critical role in bone health by modulating mineral metabolism and hormonal balance. Despite its potential benefits, boron is often overlooked in dietary recommendations for this group.

α-Halo borides are generally constructed Matteson homologation, and the synthesis of both fluorinated and functionalized ambiphilic boronates is challenging and has received inadequate attention. Herein, we describe the -methyliminodiacetyl boronate [B(MIDA)]-directed halogenation of alkenes a complementary sequence involving fluoroalkyl radical addition followed by guided radical-to-metal oxidative addition and C-X reductive elimination. The alkali cation and functional groups in B(MIDA) enable coulombic interaction and weak attraction with halogens, which could weaken the Pd-X bond and assist in C-X bond formation and is verified by DFT calculations.
