As Chagas disease has no cure, vector control is the most effective method of preventing this neglected disease. Generally the anatomical teratologies are associated with hormonal dysfunction of the corpus allatum (juvenile hormone), presents genetic basis or unfavorable conditions, and are recessive and not sex linked. Thus, we characterize the male gonads and spermatogenesis of triatomines with anatomical teratologies to evaluate if the malformations interfere in the gametogenesis of these vectors. All teratogenic triatomines analyzed did not present presented gonadal dysgenesis and alterations in spermatogenesis. Thus, we characterize the presence of anatomical teratologies in some species of triatomines and demonstrate that these malformations in the external morphology do not interfere in the gonads and gametogenesis of these vectors. In addition, although new studies with the corpus allatum should be conducted we suggesting that the use of juvenile hormones does not present effectiveness in the reproductive control of these vectors.

Conjoined twins (CTs), popularly referred to as Siamese twins, are a rare anomaly due to monochorionic and monoamniotic twin pregnancies. Dicephalus dibrachius dipus, a type of parapagus conjoined twin which is characterized by possessing two arms, two legs, a single trunk and two heads, epidemiologically, is an even rarer occurrence of CTs. In this article, a rare, well-preserved anatomical specimen of a dicephalus dibrachius dipus conjoined twin is presented.

Dimethyltin dichloride is used as the putative toxophore for dimethyltin bis-alkylthio esters in a read-across approach. Recent chemical and toxicological investigations challenges this read across as data on dioctyltin bis(2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate) and dibutyltin bis(2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate) showed the dialkyltin thioglycolates do not generate dialkyltin dichloride. Results obtained by Sn-NMR spectroscopy demonstrated that dimethyltin bis(2-ethylhexyl thioglycolate), the smallest commercially manufactured dialkyltin thioester molecule of this kind, hydrolyzed to dimethyltin chloro-(2-ethylhexyl) thioglycolate under simulated gastric conditions.

These variations are recognised as evolutionary developmental anomalies. Evolutionary teratology hence leads to a double diagnosis with (1) macrodactyly of digit I and microdactyly of digits II and III, plus (2) anterior micromelia.

Conjoined triplets are among the rarest of human malformations, as are asymmetric or parasitic conjoined twins. Based on a very modest corpus of recent literature, we applied the embryonic disk model of conjoined twinning to 10 previously reported cases involving asymmetric anatomical multiplications to determine whether they concerned conjoined twins or conjoined triplets. In spite of their phenotypic similarities, we diagnosed four of these cases as conjoined twins and three of them as conjoined triplets.
