We report an experimental and theoretical investigation of glass formation in soft thermo-sensitive colloids following two different routes: a gradual increase of the particle number density at constant temperature and an increase of the radius in a fixed volume at constant particle number density. Confocal microscopy experiments and the non-equilibrium self-consistent generalized Langevin equation (NE-SCGLE) theory consistently show that the two routes lead to a dynamically comparable state at sufficiently long aging times. However, experiments reveal the presence of moderate but persistent structural differences. Successive cycles of radius decrease and increase lead instead to a reproducible glass state, indicating a suitable route to obtain rejuvenation without using shear fields.

In the monomer crystal, molecules arrange in a head-to-tail manner, forming supramolecular helices. Background: Scanning electrochemical microscopy (SECM) is a kind of scanning probe technology that enables the obtainment of surface morphology and electrochemical information by recording changes in Faraday current triggered by the movement of probe.
Results: In this work, flexible disk ultramicroelectrode (UME) with highly repeatable geometry are fabricated through a simple and universal strategy that involves vacuum pulling the glass capillaries inserted with platinum wire (gold wire, carbon fiber, etc.), followed by a rapidly heated sealing and polishing process.
Background: Amyloid and alpha synuclein proteins are brain biomarkers of different neurodegenerative diseases, many years before symptoms. We have shown that imaging dye-free with polarized light makes retinal amyloid deposits visible as a biomarker, in the brain, of amyloid and Alzheimer's disease (AD) severity. Here, we extend to presumed retinal alpha synuclein deposits in those with brain pathology consistent with alpha synuclein.

High-performance bulk graphite (HPBG) that simultaneously integrates superior electrical conductivity and excellent strength is in high demand, yet it remains critical and challenging. Herein a novel approach is introduced utilizing MOF-derived nanoporous metal/carbon composites as precursors to circumvent this traditional trade-off.
