Posttranscriptional Control of Neural Progenitors Temporal Dynamics During Neocortical Development by Syncrip.

Adv Sci (Weinh)

The development of the mammalian neocortex is precisely regulated by temporal gene expression, yet the temporal regulatory mechanisms of cortical neurogenesis, particularly how radial glial cells (RGCs) sequentially generate deep to superficial neurons, remain unclear. Here, the hnRNP family member Syncrip (hnRNP Q) is identified as a key modulator of superficial neuronal differentiation in neocortical neurogenesis. Syncrip knockout in RGCs disrupts differentiation and abnormal neuronal localization, ultimately resulting in superficial cortical layer defects as well as learning and memory impairments in mice.

Perceived mistreatment in patients with rheumatic diseases: The impact of the underlying diagnosis.

PLoS One

December 2024

Department of Immunology and Rheumatology, Instituto Nacional de Ciencias Médicas y Nutrición Salvador Zubirán, Mexico City, Mexico.

Background: Mistreatment is a complex problem that impacts people's quality of life, morbidity, and mortality. In aged people, it has been associated with female sex, poor general health, depression, functional and cognitive decline, and increased dependence levels, all of which are well-recognized characteristics of patients with rheumatic diseases (RMDs). The objective was to describe the mistreatment phenomenon in Mexican patients with RMDs.

The vestibular system is vital for maintaining stable vision during daily activities. When peripheral vestibular input is lost, patients initially experience impaired gaze stability due to reduced effectiveness of the vestibular-ocular-reflex pathway. To aid rehabilitation, patients are often prescribed gaze-stabilization exercises during which they make self-initiated active head movements.

Individualized temporal patterns drive human sleep spindle timing.

Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A

January 2025

Division of Sleep and Circadian Disorders, Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, MA 02115.

Sleep spindles are cortical electrical oscillations considered critical for memory consolidation and sleep stability. The timing and pattern of sleep spindles are likely to be important in driving synaptic plasticity during sleep as well as preventing disruption of sleep by sensory and internal stimuli. However, the relative importance of factors such as sleep depth, cortical up/down-state, and temporal clustering in governing sleep spindle dynamics remains poorly understood.

: CI-RM6P has different binding sites with affinities for both M6P and IGF2, plays a role in the regulation of the TGF-β and IGF pathways that is important for controlling cell growth and differentiation. We hypothesize that previously synthesised derivative of M6P could be an alternative candidate for bone tissue regeneration in terms of higher binding affinity, stability in human serum, low cost and temporal delivery. : CH-M6P is synthesised based on previously described protocol; mesenchymal origin of isolated DPSCs was assessed by flow cytometry and AR staining prior to alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity test, qPCR to evaluate differentiation specific marker expression, immunofluoresence, and SEM/EDS to evaluate organic and inorganic matrix formation; and rat aortic ring model to evaluate angiogenic effect of molecule.
