This study examined the crawling characteristics of newborns placed prone on a water-filled, transparent pediatric mattress and whether exposure to terrestrial optic flows that specify forward and backward displacement would influence leg and arm crawling movements. Twenty-six 3-day-old newborns were exposed to a static checkerboard pattern that was back-projected onto the surface underneath the mattress or a checkerboard pattern that moved toward or away from them at 0.12 m/s. Significantly more flexion and extension crawling movements of the legs were observed in the optic flow conditions, although infants did not displace their bodies significantly further on the mattress in these conditions. Unique aspects of newborn crawling were also identified.

Water pipelines in water diversion projects can leak, leading to soil deformation and ground subsidence, necessitating research into soil deformation monitoring technology. This study conducted model tests to monitor soil deformation around leaking buried water pipelines using distributed fiber optic strain sensing (DFOSS) technology based on optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR). By arranging strain measurement fibers in a pipe-soil model, we investigated how leak location, leak size, pipe burial depth, and water flow velocity affect soil strain field monitoring results.

The study presents a detailed examination and follow-up of a Slovenian patient with an Leber Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON)-like phenotype and bilateral optic neuropathy in whom genetic analysis identified a novel variant :m.15309T>C (Ile188Thr). We provide detailed analysis of the clinical examinations of a male patient with bilateral optic neuropathy from the acute stage to 8 years of follow-up.

Elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) is a significant risk factor for glaucoma, causing structural and functional damage to the eye. Increased IOP compromises the metabolic and structural integrity of retinal ganglion cell (RGC) axons, leading to progressive degeneration and influencing the ocular immune response. This study investigated early cellular and molecular changes in the retina and optic nerve (ON) following ocular hypertension (OHT).

A 73-year-old male with a history of incidentally diagnosed Paget disease of bone affecting the skull and left orbit 2 years prior presented with 3 months of vision loss, proptosis, and periorbital swelling of the OS. Examination showed best-corrected Snellen visual acuity of 20/150 in the affected eye, intact motility, 7 mm of relative proptosis, significant dilated and tortuous "corkscrew" conjunctival vessels, serous choroidal and retinal detachments, optic nerve hyperemia, and venous tortuosity and dilation. Although the bony lesions in the left orbit were stable from 1 year prior on imaging, the diagnostic angiogram demonstrated osseous blush and hypervascularity of the lesion.

A lateral flow assay (LFA) was developed for the simultaneous or separate detection of mercury ion and silver ion based on isothermal nucleic acid amplification. T-Hg-T and C-Ag-C were utilized in the isothermal nucleic acid amplification strategy to form specific complementary base pairs. Under the action of KF polymerase and endonuclease Nt.
