Osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ) has been associated to antiresorptive treatment and is an increasing problem all over the world. ONJ is a severe adverse effect of antiresorptive treatment with bisphosphonate and denosumab used for treatment of osteoporosis, metastases from certain malignant conditions and as an adjuvant treatment in postmenopausal women with breast cancer, and of treatment with certain chemotherapeutic drugs. In this paper the epidemiology, symptoms, diagnostic features, clinical findings, and treatment are reviewed. Guidelines are presented for dental treatment, surgery and referral of patients on antiresorptive treatment.

Bone health after lung transplantation has not been comprehensively reviewed in over two decades. This narrative review summarizes available literature on bone health in the context of lung transplantation, including epidemiology, presentation and post-operative management. Osteoporosis is reported in approximately 30-50% of lung transplant candidates, largely due to disease-related impact on bone and lifestyle, and corticosteroid-related effects during end-stage lung disease (interstitial lung diseases, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and historically cystic fibrosis).

Cherubism is a rare autosomal dominant skeletal dysplasia, affecting the maxilla and/or mandible. The condition typically has childhood onset, followed by progression until puberty, with subsequent regression. Cherubism lesions share histological features with giant cell tumor of bone, where high-dose monthly denosumab is an effective medical treatment.

Study Design: A retrospective study.

Purpose: This study aimed to determine the impact of increased Hounsfield unit (HU) values for metastatic spinal lesions measured via computed tomography on the overall survival of patients with non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and identify factors associated with increased HU values in metastatic spinal lesions.

Overview Of Literature: Previous studies have underscored the utility of the HU as a marker of treatment response in metastatic bone lesions.

This study analyzed the association of romosozumab, a human monoclonal antibody with bone-forming and bone resorption-inhibiting effects, and bisphosphonates with the development of cardiovascular disease among patients with osteoporosis. A new-user design was employed to address selection bias, and instrumental variable analysis was used to address confounding by indication. Japanese patients aged ≥40 years, diagnosed with osteoporosis or experienced a fragility fracture, were admitted to medical facilities covered by a commercial administrative claims database, and newly prescribed romosozumab or bisphosphonates after the commercialization of romosozumab in Japan (March 4, 2019) were included based on verification of a 180-day washout period.

OI, or bone brittle disease, is characterized by increased mineralization of bone matrix independently of clinical severity. So, a beneficial effect of antiresorptive treatments such as bisphosphonates (BP) is questionable. We aim to compare the bone matrix characteristics before and after BP pamidronate (PAM).
