A new lactam 28-norlimonoid from the leaves of A. Juss. (Meliaceae). | LitMetric

AI Article Synopsis

  • - A new lactam called nimbandiolactam-21 was discovered from the leaves of a specific plant, along with two previously known limonoids.
  • - The structures of these compounds were determined using NMR spectroscopy, with nimbandiolactone-23 exhibiting strong inhibitory activity against -glucosidase (IC value of 38.7 μM).
  • - Nimbidiolactam-21 represents the first naturally occurring 28-norlimonoid that contains a lactam structure, and a potential biosynthetic pathway for its formation was suggested.

Article Abstract

From an EtOAc-soluble fraction of the leaves of , one new lactam 28-norlimonoid named nimbandiolactam-21 (), together with 2 known limonoids ( and ) were isolated. Their relative structures were elucidated based on NMR spectroscopic analysis. Nimbandiolactone-23 () showed the most potent -glucosidase inhibitory activity, with an IC value of 38.7 μM. Compound represents the first naturally occurring example of a 28-norlimonoid having the lactam moiety. The plausible biosynthetic pathway for the formation of lactam moiety in was proposed.
