Background: The survival advantages of bilateral internal thoracic artery (BITA) grafts in coronary artery bypass surgery (CABG) remain unclear. Therefore, this study aims to systematically evaluate the time-dependent influence of BITA on long-term survival in elective CABG patients presenting with stable multi-vessel coronary artery disease.

Methods: Data from 3,693 patients undergoing isolated CABG with single internal thoracic artery (SITA) or BITA, with or without additional vein grafts, between 2002 and 2012 were retrospectively analyzed.

Purpose: To analyze the incidence and risk factors of postoperative fever (POF) in gastrointestinal cancer (GIC), discuss the influence of POF on short-term clinical outcomes, and predict anastomotic leakage (AL) based on POF characteristics.

Methods: Overall, 1362 patients that underwent radical resection for GIC were retrospectively analyzed. POF was defined as a postoperative temperature ≥38°C during hospitalization.

Vasa previa is a condition where unprotected fetal vessels, neither by placenta nor umbilical cord, lie within the membranes over the internal cervical ostium and beneath the presenting part of the fetus. Due to this condition, the membranous vessels pose a higher risk of being compressed or ruptures and could lead to fetal demise, exsanguination, or even fetal death. In this case report, we reported a case of a 36-year-old woman, G3P2A0, at term gestation and oblique lie.

The nonvisual effects of light in humans are mainly conveyed by a subset of retinal ganglion cells that contain the pigment melanopsin which renders them intrinsically photosensitive (= intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells, ipRGCs). They have direct connections to the main circadian clock in the suprachiasmatic nuclei (SCN) of the hypothalamus and modulate a variety of physiological processes, pineal melatonin secretion, autonomic functions, cognitive processes such as attention, and behavior, including sleep and wakefulness. This is because efferent projections from the SCN reach other hypothalamic nuclei, the pineal gland, thalamus, basal forebrain, and the brainstem.

Introduction: Arteriovenous (AV) fistula creation is the most common surgical procedure for providing vascular access for haemodialysis in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The functioning of fistula dictates the quality of dialysis and the longevity of patients. The most common circumstances that require surgical takedown of AV fistula are thrombosis and rupture.
