1. The effects of atrial natriuretic polypeptide (ANP) on renal function were examined in renal wrap hypertensive rabbits and sham operated rabbits. 2. ANP (2 micrograms/min) induced hypotension, but did not produce significant diuresis, natriuresis or change in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) in renal wrap hypertensive rabbits (n = 8). 3. In sham operated normotensive rabbits (n = 4), ANP induced significant diuresis (230%) and increased GFR by about 40%. 4. Thus, ANP was markedly less effective in the impaired kidneys of renal wrapped rabbits than in normal kidneys.

Objective: Retroperitoneal fibrosis is a rare disease characterized by chronic inflammation and fibrosis in the retroperitoneal space that may wrap around the ureter and cause an obstruction. Here we present the cases of three patients diagnosed and treated between April and August 2022.
Case Presentation: Here we present three cases of retroperitoneal fibrosis.

Gallic acid (GA), a dietary phenolic acid with potent antioxidant activity, is widely distributed in edible plants. GA has been applied in the food industry as an antimicrobial agent, food fresh-keeping agent, oil stabilizer, active food wrap material, and food processing stabilizer. GA is a potential dietary supplement due to its health benefits on various functional disorders associated with oxidative stress, including renal, neurological, hepatic, pulmonary, reproductive, and cardiovascular diseases.

Introduction: Renal function may be compromised following recovery from kidney insults. Renal functional reserve (RFR) is a measure of the difference between the kidney's maximum capacity and its baseline function, which helps identify any areas of the kidney with compromised function. Usually, RFR is evaluated using acute volume expansion (AVE), but this is typically done in anesthetized animals, which may not accurately represent the kidney's complete functional capacity.

Podocytes are highly specialized epithelial cells that surround the capillaries of the glomeruli in the kidney. Together with the glomerular endothelial cells, these postmitotic cells are responsible for regulating filtrate from the circulating blood with their organized network of interdigitating foot processes that wrap around the glomerular basement membrane. Although podocyte injury and subsequent loss is the hallmark of many glomerular diseases, recent evidence suggests that the cell-cell communication between podocytes and other glomerular and nonglomerular cells is critical for the development and progression of kidney disease.

Introduction: It is still controversial whether automated peritoneal dialysis (APD) or hemodialysis (HD) is a more favorable choice for the rapid initiation of peritoneal dialysis (PD).
Methods: A pilot randomized prospective controlled trial was carried out in Shanghai Ruijin Hospital. Sixty-seven patients who chose long-term PD treatment and needed unplanned dialysis were enrolled and randomized into HD-CAPD group (33 cases) or APD-CAPD group (34 cases) based on the dialysis modality during the transition period (within 14 days from the day PD catheter was implanted).
