Topological plasmonics combines principles of topology and plasmonics to provide new methods for controlling light, analogous to topological edge states in photonics. However, designing such topological states remains challenging due to the complexity of the high-dimensional design space. We present a novel method that uses supervised, physics-informed deep learning and surrogate modeling to design topological devices for desired wavelengths.

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is a leading cause of death and disability worldwide, and its incidence and prevalence are increasing in many countries. Modeling of CVD plays a crucial role in understanding the trend of CVD death cases, evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, and predicting future disease trends. This study aims to investigate the modeling and forecasting of CVD mortality, specifically in the Sindh province of Pakistan.

Aims: Neuron death is caused primarily by apoptosis after spinal cord injury (SCI). Autophagy, as a cellular response, can maintain cellular homeostasis to reduce apoptosis. We aimed to investigate the effect and the mechanism of vimentin knockdown on autophagy and neural recovery after SCI.

The cerebellum, identified to be active during cognitive and social behavior, has multisynaptic connections through the cerebellar nuclei (CN) and thalamus to cortical regions, yet formation and modulation of these pathways are not fully understood. Perineuronal nets (PNNs) respond to changes in local cellular activity and emerge during development. PNNs are implicated in learning and neurodevelopmental disorders, but their role in the CN during development is unknown.

Extracellular matrix (ECM) is a network of macromolecules which has two forms - perineuronal nets (PNNs) and a diffuse ECM (dECM) - both influence brain development, synapse formation, neuroplasticity, CNS injury and progression of neurodegenerative diseases. ECM remodeling can influence extrasynaptic transmission, mediated by diffusion of neuroactive substances in the extracellular space (ECS). In this study we analyzed how disrupted PNNs and dECM influence brain diffusibility.
