Electrophoretic mobility and dynamic light scattering measurements were carried out to investigate the physical characteristics of amylose inclusion complexes with a series of long chain fatty acids, in alkaline solution (0.1 N or 0.01 N KOH). Amylose molecules exhibited lower values of electrophoretic mobility compared to those of the amylose-fatty acid complexes. The presence of amylopectin affected the electrophoretic mobility of starch-fatty acid complexes. Particle size distribution measurements of amylose-fatty acid complexes in aqueous suspension (pH 4.6) were performed employing the laser light scattering technique. The size of the diameter of the complexes in alkaline solution was found to be much smaller than that of the size of the complexes in aqueous suspension. The results are discussed in the light of solvent contribution to the conformational changes of the complexes occurred in the environments employed.

Chemical signals are pivotal in establishing tritrophic interactions among host plants, herbivorous insects, and natural enemies. Previous studies have shown that evolutionarily conserved MaltOBPs in Monochamus alternatus and DhelOBPs in Dastarcus helophoroides contribute to the establishment of pine -pest - natural enemy tritrophic interactions by recognizing the same volatile emitted by the host during crucial developmental stages. We hypothesized that the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms of evolutionarily conserved OBPs respectively from pests and enemies are similar.

Lincomycin, produced by the actinomycete Streptomyces lincolnensis, is highly effective against Gram-positive bacteria and protozoans, making it widely used in clinical settings. This study identified LcbR2, a MarR family transcriptional regulator, as an activator of lincomycin biosynthesis. Knocking out the lcbR2 gene reduced lincomycin production by 63.

This study examines the adsorption and bulk assembly behaviour of quaternized hydroxyethylcellulose ethoxylate (QHECE)-sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) complexes on negatively charged substrates. Due to its quaternized structure, QHECE, which is used in several industries, including cosmetics, exhibits enhanced electrostatic interactions. The phase behaviour and adsorption mechanisms of QHECE-SDS complexes are investigated using model substrates that mimic the wettability and surface charge of damaged hair fibres.

(1) Background: Prostate cancer treatment efficacy is significantly influenced by androgen receptor (AR) signaling pathways. SLC22A3, a membrane transporter, has been linked to SNP rs9364554 risk loci for drug efficacy in prostate cancer. (2) Methods: We examined the location of SNP rs9364554 in the genome and utilized TCGA and other publicly available datasets to analyze the association of this SNP with transcription levels.
