A sensitive tapered optical fiber tip combined with dielectrophoretic (DEP) trapping was used for rapid and label-free detection of bacteria in water. The angular spectrum of the optical field at the fiber tip was changed with the surrounding refractive index (RI). By measuring far-field intensity change at the defocus plane, the intensity sensitivity was up to 95 200%/RIU (RI unit), and the detection limit was 5.2 × 10 RIU at 0.5% intensity stability. By applying an AC voltage to a Ti/Al coated fiber tip and an indium-tin-oxide glass, the DEP force effectively trapped the Escherichia coli ( E. coli) near the fiber tip. Those bacteria can be directly measured from optical intensity change due to the increase of surrounding RI. By immobilizing the antibody on the Ti/Al fiber tip, the tests for specific K12 bacteria and nonspecific BL21 bacteria verified the specificity. The antibody-immobilized Ti/Al coated fiber tip with DEP trapping can detect bacteria at a concentration about 100 CFU/mL.

This study developed antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) from quinoa with high antibacterial activity and stability by mixed-bacteria fermentation. Furthermore, among 9 peptide fractions purified by membrane separation and chromatography, F1 could effectively inhibit the growth and propagation of bacterial microorganisms in apple juice. Subsequently, F1 identified LC-MS/MS as 95 peptides, molecular weights 494.

Yeast two-hybrid library screening enables the discovery of novel protein-protein interactions. Identifying cytosolic host proteins targeted by host-translocated Phytophthora effector proteins relies on the mRNA amount, quality, and composition used to prepare the yeast two-hybrid cDNA library. Here we describe the steps required for the preparation of a Pinus radiata cDNA library optimized for Phytophthora effector target screening in yeast.

Cervical cancer remains a significant health challenge in developing countries are high due to low HPV vaccination rates, delayed diagnosis, and restricted healthcare access. Metal nanomaterials, such as copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles (NPs), have shown significant promise in cancer therapy due to their ability to induce apoptosis. 5-Fluorouracil (5-Fu) enhances the cytotoxic effect against cervical cancer, working synergistically with CuO NPs to maximize the therapeutic impact while potentially reducing the 5-Fu's systemic side effects.

The bovine uterus is susceptible to bacterial infections after calving, particularly from (), which often results in endometritis. Additionally, postpartum stress in cows can elevate cortisol levels in the body, inhibiting endometrial regeneration and reducing immune function, thereby further increasing the risk of infection. Selenium (Se) is a common feed additive in dairy farming, known for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects.

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a growing global concern and poses a significant threat to public health. The emergence of multidrug-resistant organisms, including , also presents a risk of transmission to humans through the food chain, including milk. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence of in raw milk in the Chattogram metropolitan area (CMA) of Bangladesh and their phenotypic and genotypic antimicrobial resistance patterns.
