Functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) allows the non-invasive assessment of human brain activity in vivo. In glioma patients, fMRI is frequently used to determine the individual functional anatomy of the motor and language network in a presurgical setting to optimize surgical procedures and prevent extensive damage to functionally eloquent areas. Novel developments based on resting-state fMRI may help to improve presurgical planning for patients which are unable to perform structured tasks and might extend presurgical mapping to include additional functional networks. Recent advances indicate a promising potential for future applications of fMRI in glioma patients which might help to identify neoplastic tissue or predict the long-term functional outcome of individual patients.

Oncolytic viruses (OVs) emerge as a promising cancer immunotherapy. However, the temporal impact on tumor cells and the tumor microenvironment, and the nature of anti-tumor immunity post-therapy remain largely unclear. Here we report that CD4 T cells are required for durable tumor control in syngeneic murine models of glioblastoma multiforme after treatment with an oncolytic herpes simplex virus (oHSV) engineered to express IL-12.

This study reviews the diagnostic criteria and treatment strategies for spinal malignant gliomas, particularly glioblastoma with -wildtype and diffuse midline gliomas with H3-K27 alteration, according to the World Health Organization 2021 classification. Surgical resection remains challenging owing to the diffuse nature of these tumors. Even with the Stupp regimen(temozolomide and radiotherapy), the prognosis remains poor, with an average survival of 12 months.

Background: Global comparisons of the burden and impact of cancers of the brain and central nervous system (CNS) are critical for developing effective control strategies and generating etiological hypotheses to drive future research.
Methods: National incidence estimates were obtained from GLOBOCAN 2022, and recorded incidence data from the Cancer in Five Continents series, both developed and compiled by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. We examined the estimated age-standardized incidence rates in 185 countries, as well as time trends in recorded incidence in 35 countries, quantifying the direction and change in the magnitude of the rates using the estimated average percentage change (EAPC).

Background And Purpose: The characteristics and role of NOD-like receptor (NLR) signaling pathway in high-grade gliomas were still unclear. This study aimed to reveal the association of NLR with clinical heterogeneity of glioblastoma (GBM) patients, and to explore the role of NLR pathway hub genes in the occurrence and development of GBM.
Methods: Transcriptomic data from 496 GBM patients with complete prognostic information were obtained from the TCGA, GEO, and CGGA databases.

Background: Medulloblastoma is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor, typically treated with normofractionated craniospinal irradiation (CSI) with an additional boost over about 6 weeks in children older than 3 years. This study investigates the sensitivity of pediatric medulloblastoma cell lines to different radiation fractionation schedules. While extensively studied in adult tumors, these ratios remain unknown in pediatric cases due to the rarity of the disease.
