We report on a chemiluminescence (CL) system based on simultaneous enhancing effect of Si-doped carbon dots (Si-CDs) and cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) on HCO-HO reaction The possible CL mechanism is investigated and discussed. Excited-state Si-CDs was found to be the final emitting species, which are probably produced via electron and hole injection by oxy-radicals. The effect of several other heteroatom-doped CDs and undoped CDs was also investigated and compared with Si-CDs. Furthermore, it was found that catecholamines such as dopamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline remarkably diminish the CL intensity of Si-CD-HCO-HO-CTAB system. By taking advantage of this fact, a sensitive probe was designed for determination of dopamine, adrenaline and noradrenaline with a limit of detection of 0.07, 0.60 and 0.01 μM, respectively. The method was applied to the determination of catecholamines in human plasma samples.

Round-trip energy transfer (RTET) in the popular Er/Yb upconversion (UC) system is a newly discovered mechanism for the red emission of Er through Yb as an intermediate ion. However, the importance of the RTET still remains a question. Here, we show in cubic YO that the new mechanism defeats conventional ones and dominates the red emission in both UC and down-shifting (DS) luminescence for a wide concentration range of Yb.

Dy/Tb co-doped glasses have drawn profound attention for their potential in solid state lighting due to their unique luminescence properties. This research highlights the effect of compositional variation on structural and optical characteristics of Dy/Tb co-doped phospho-tellurite glasses through a comprehensive analysis involving X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and photoluminescence (PL) studies. XRD and FTIR spectroscopy are conducted to characterize the glass matrix and confirm its structural integrity.

Occupational radiation dosimeters that return high readings cannot always be explained by circumstances in the workplace. For this experiment, a series of optically stimulated luminescence (OSL) dosimeters were brought to airports to estimate the radiation dose OSLs would receive should a worker accidentally bring their dosimeter with them during travel. The OSLs returned readings between 0.

Two-dimensional (2D) materials are highly valued for their unique properties and potential applications, as they can display exotic behaviors differing from those of their bulk forms. Research on elementary and binary solids has been making great progress recently, while synthesizing multi-component 2D materials experimentally remains a challenge, despite the possibility of greatly extending the number of members of the 2D realm. In this study, we synthesized ternary BiTeX (X = Cl, Br, I) nanosheets with high crystallinity through an electrochemical exfoliation method.

Nowadays, benzimidazole and its derivatives are widely assembled into multifunctional materials with various properties such as mechanochromism, photochromism, thermochromism and electrochromism. Herein, two novel zinc(II) coordination compounds, [Zn(L)Br]·2HO (1) and [Zn(L)Cl]·2HO (2) (L = tetra(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)ethene), have been constructed one-pot facile synthesis from bis(1-benzo[]imidazol-2-yl)methane (L) and zinc(II) salts. The ligand L with a CC double bond was formed by C-C coupling of two sp-C atoms of L in solvothermal synthesis, which provides a new strategy to generate the conjugation system conveniently.
