Marfan syndrome (MFS), an inherited connective tissue disorder, is caused by a mutation in the FBN1 gene. MFS is characterized by complex manifestations involving musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, and ocular systems. The usual presentation for suspecting diagnosis in an individual with aortic root disease is tall stature in addition to other features that fulfill Ghent criteria.

Background: This study aimed to investigate the major predictive factors associated with prolonged mechanical ventilation(PMV) following cardiac surgery.
Methods: This retrospective, cross-sectional, descriptive-analytical study was conducted from September 2021 to March 2022, involving 244 patients who underwent cardiac surgery. PMV was defined as mechanical ventilation for more than 24 h.
Aortic regurgitation is the third most common valve lesion with increasing prevalence secondary to an ageing population. Transthoracic echocardiography plays a vital role in the identification and assessment of aortic regurgitation and proves essential in monitoring severity and determining the timing of intervention. Building on the foundations of previous British Society of Echocardiography (BSE) recommendations, this BSE guideline presents an update on how to approach an echocardiographic assessment of aortic regurgitation.

The use of conventional contrast agents in computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging is often limited in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) due to potential nephrotoxicity. Ferumoxytol, originally developed for iron supplementation, has emerged as a promising alternative MR contrast agent that is safer for patients with CKD. This study aims to present our center's experience with ferumoxytol as a contrast agent in CKD patients.
