Antihyperlipidemic glycosides from the root bark of .

Nat Prod Res

a Collaborative Innovation Center for Respiratory Disease Diagnosis, Treatment & Chinese Medicine Development of Henan Province , Henan University of Chinese Medicine, Zhengzhou , China.

Published: September 2019

Three new glycosides (-), together with six known ones (-), were isolated from the root bark of . Their structures were elucidated on the basis of MS and NMR spectroscopic data. Five compounds (, , , , and exhibited potent antihyperlipidemic activities in HepG2 cells as assessed by Oil Red O staining and significant inhibition of intracellular triglyceride (TG) levels, whereas two compounds ( and ) significantly reduced total cholesterol (TC) levels.

Sesquiterpenoids isolated from the root bark of Lycium chinense.

Phytochemistry

March 2025

School of Pharmacy, Nanjing Medical University, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province 211166, PR China. Electronic address:

This study reports the isolation of 11 previously undescribed sesquiterpenoids from the root bark of Lycium chinense Mill, including a 1,10-secoeudesmane-type sesquiterpene (1), a 9,10-secoeudesmane-type sesquiterpene (2) and nine rearranged eudesmane sesquiterpenes (3-11). Structures elucidation of these compounds was established using 1D/2D NMR, electronic circular dichroism calculations along with DP4 probability analysis, and X-ray diffraction analysis of single crystals. Lyciiterpenoid E (1), a eudesmane sesquiterpenoid, is characterised by a bond cleavage between C-1 and C-10 while, lyciiterpenoid F (2) exhibits a bond cleavage between C-9 and C-10.

Insight into the immunomodulatory and chemotherapeutic mechanisms of paeonol (Review).

Med Int (Lond)

February 2025

Department of Pharmacology, School of Medical Sciences, College of Health and Allied Sciences, University of Cape Coast, Cape Coast 00233, Ghana.

Paeonol a, pharmacologically active constituent obtained from the root bark of has been extensively utilized as a traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment, prevention and control of several diseases for years. Paeonol has been reported to possess key immunomodulatory properties; however, the underlying mechanisms involved in its immunomodulatory and anticancer effects have not been extensively researched due to limitations in terms of design, conduct and interpretation. The present review focuses on both the and immunosuppressive and anticancer effects of paeonol and the underlying mechanisms of action.

The chemical investigations of the methanolic root, stem bark, leaf, and fruit extracts of Miq (Moraceae) led to the isolation of nineteen different compounds including one new triglyceride derivative named vogelianor (), two compounds ( and ) obtained for the first time from a natural source, as well as sixteen known compounds (-). The structures of all the isolates were established by extensive spectroscopic and spectrometric analyses (1D and 2D NMR, ESI-MS) and by comparison with previously reported data. Compound showed moderate activity against with a MIC value of 31.
