Green space plays an important role in reducing PM, since it can efficiently absorb suspended particles in the air. A quantificational method of dust detention service of green space was proposed in this study, based on the mechanism of PM reduction by plant. Daily, summer, winter and whole year cumulative dust amounts reduced by green space with different landscape types of Haidian District, Beijing, were quantified. The results showed that both of dust reduction frequency and daily cumulative dust amount in winter were considerably lower than those in summer. Mountain woodlands in the west of Haidian District provided the highest average PM reduction service, and the fragmented agricultural and forest landscapes in the northern plains provided the highest total dust detention service, while the southern area had the lowest dust detention service except for several parks. PM detention service model was very useful to quickly quantify how much dust could be reduced by green space and where were these services, which was very important for the development of urban green space and improvement of air quality.

The desire to reduce secondary pollution from shielded electronics devices demands electromagnetic interference (EMI) shields with high green index (GI), which is the ratio of absorbance over reflectance. Achieving high GI values simultaneously with high shielding effectiveness (SE) over 50 dB is a serious unresolved challenge. Reducing the impedance mismatch between the shield and free space is the key to reducing the reflection of incoming radiation and enabling more penetration into the body of the shield for absorption.

Macrosomia poses significant health risks to mother and fetuses, yet the protective sensitive window for the effects of green space resources on the risk of macrosomia remains unexplored. Background: Air pollution has been linked to respiratory diseases, while the effects of greenness remain inconclusive.
Objective: We investigated the associations between exposure to particulate matter (PM and PM), black carbon (BC), nitrogen dioxide (NO), ozone (O), and greenness (normalized difference vegetation index, NDVI) with respiratory emergency room visits and hospitalizations across seven Northern European centers in the European Community Respiratory Health Survey (ECRHS) study.
Methods: We used modified mixed-effects Poisson regression to analyze associations of exposure in 1990, 2000 and mean exposure 1990-2000 with respiratory outcomes recorded duing ECRHS phases II and III.
