Two pairs of new phenolic enantiomers, (+)-eucophenolic A (1a), (-)-eucophenolic B (1b), (-)-eucophenolic C (2a), (+)-eucophenolic D (2b) were isolated from the leaves of Eucommia ulmodies Oliver by chiral enantiomeric resolution. Their structures were elucidated based on extensive spectroscopic analysis. The absolute configurations of 1a/1b and 2a/2b were determined by empirical method and the calculated ECD and OR. All compounds were tested for Hep G2 tumour cell lines. However, no compounds showed potential cytotoxic activities against Hep G2 in vitro.

Oxidative stress, associated with excessive production of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (ROS, RNS), contributes to the development and progression of many ailments, such as aging, cardiovascular diseases, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, diabetes, cancer, preeclampsia or multiple sclerosis. While phenols and polyphenols are the most studied antioxidants structurally similar compounds such as anilines or thiophenols are sporadically analyzed despite their radical scavenging potential. This work assesses the impact of structural features of phenols and thiophenols on their antioxidant activity.

A dual-signal aptamer-based assay utilizing colorimetric and fluorescence techniques was developed for the determination of zearalenone (ZEN). The CdTe quantum dots, serving as the fluorescent signal source, were surface-modified onto FeO@SiO and subsequently functionalized with the aptamer. The COF-Au was modified with complementary chain, which possessed peroxide (POD)-like enzyme properties, and could catalyze the peroxidation of 3,3',5,5'-tetramethylbenzidine (TMB) to ox TMB, resulting in the generation of colorimetric signals.
