Infective endocarditis (IE) in children is a rare entity which presents a high rate of events during follow-up. Congenital heart disease, i particular ventricular septal defect (VSD), is the main predisposing condition to IE at those ages. The long-term risk of IE is of concern and whose follow-up can be complicated by a relapse of IE and reintervention.

Objective: Communicating hydrocephalus (CH) is an uncommon complication that can affect patients with glioblastoma (GBM). Due to its clinical and radiological findings, it presents as a chronic hydrocephalus. The mechanisms underlying its occurrence and impact on the prognosis of the disease are poorly known, but some studies have suggested that shunting can have a positive impact on the quality of life of these patients.

Methods And Results: A total of 92 consecutive patients with symptomatic obstructive HCM with peak left ventricular outflow tract gradients of ≥30 mm Hg at rest or with provocation who were maintained on disopyramide for ≥5 years at 2 dedicated HCM centers were included: 92 patients; mean age, 62.5 years; 54% women; treated with disopyramide for median 7.

Background: Cardiomyopathy is a disease that affects the myocardium and can be classified as dilated, restrictive, or hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Among the subtypes, restrictive cardiomyopathy is characterized by restriction of ventricular filling and its uncommon cause is a disease due to mutation on Filamin C (FLNC) gene. Filamin C is an actin-binding protein encoded by FLNC gene and participates in sarcomere stability maintenance, which is expressed on the striated muscle.
