During the process of bone remodeling, the bone homeostasis is tightly controlled by the coupling of bone resorption and bone formation, depending upon cellular communication between osteoclasts and osteoblasts. Many studies have identified that the bi-directional transduction of erythropoietin producing hepatocyte kinase receptor and ephrin ligand (Eph/ephrin) is one of signal transduction pathways in bone remodeling. This review focus on the potential role of Eph/ephrin in bone remodeling, especially in alveolar remodeling.

Niemann-Pick disease type C protein 1 (NPC1), classically associated with cholesterol transport and viral entry, has an emerging role in cancer biology. Here, we demonstrate that knockout of Npc1 in hepatocytes attenuates hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) progression in both DEN (diethylnitrosamine)-CCl induced and MYC-driven HCC mouse models. Mechanistically, NPC1 significantly promotes HCC progression by modulating the TGF-β pathway, independent of its traditional role in cholesterol transport.

Background: Overdose of acetaminophen (APAP), a commonly used antipyretic analgesic, can lead to severe liver injury and failure. Current treatments are only effective in the early stages of APAP-induced acute liver injury (ALI). Therefore, a detailed examination of the mechanisms involved in liver repair following APAP-induced ALI could provide valuable insights for clinical interventions.

Introduction: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common chronic disease seriously threatening human health, with limited treatment means, however. Sesamin, a common lignan in sesame seed oil, exhibits anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties. Our previous studies have shown an ameliorative effect of sesamin on lipid accumulation in human hepatocellular carcinoma (HePG2) induced by oleic acid, with its protective effects unclear in the case of 9-trans-C18:1 elaidic acid (9-trans-C18,1).

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a progressive condition characterized by ectopic fat accumulation in the liver, for which no FAD-approved drugs currently exist. Emerging evidence highlights the role of liver kinase B1 (LKB1), a key metabolic regulator, has been proposed in NAFLD, particularly in response to excessive nutrient levels. However, few agents have been identified that can prevent the progression of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) by targeting LKB1 deacetylation.

Cucurbitacins are a class of triterpenoid compounds extracted from plants and possess various pharmacological applications. Cucurbitacin IIb (CuIIb), extracted from the medicinal plant Hemsleya amabilis (Cucurbitaceae), has served as a traditional Chinese medicine for the treatment of bacterial dysentery and intestinal inflammation. CuIIb has been shown to exhibit anti-inflammatory activity; however, the protective effect of CuIIb against concanavalin A (Con A)-induced acute liver injury (ALI) and the fundamental mechanism remain unelucidated.
