Background: Alteration of airway neuronal function and density and bidirectional interaction between immune cells and sensory peripheral nerves have been proposed to trigger and perpetuate inflammation that contribute to asthma severity. To date, few studies analysed neuroplasticity and neuroinflammation in tissue of asthmatic individuals. We hypothesized that the presence of these phenomena would be a pathological feature in fatal asthma.

Background And Objective: Accurate prognosis prediction for cancer patients plays a significant role in the formulation of treatment strategies, considerably impacting personalized medicine. Recent advancements in this field indicate that integrating information from various modalities, such as genetic and clinical data, and developing multi-modal deep learning models can enhance prediction accuracy. However, most existing multi-modal deep learning methods either overlook patient similarities that benefit prognosis prediction or fail to effectively capture diverse information due to measuring patient similarities from a single perspective.

During differentiation, keratinocytes acquire a strong, hyper-adhesive state, where desmosomal cadherins interact calcium ion independently. Previous data indicate that hyper-adhesion protects keratinocytes from pemphigus vulgaris autoantibody-induced loss of intercellular adhesion, although the underlying mechanism remains to be elucidated. Thus, in this study, we investigated the effect of hyper-adhesion on pemphigus vulgaris autoantibody-induced direct inhibition of desmoglein (DSG) 3 interactions by atomic force microscopy.

Clustered protocadherins (Pcdh), comprising a large family of isoform-specific homophilic recognition molecules, play a pivotal role in neuronal self-avoidance required for mammalian brain development5-7. The probabilistic expression of different Pcdh isoforms confers unique identities upon neurons and forms the basis for neuronal processes to discriminate between self and non-self5,6,8.
