Studies on radiosensitization of biological damage by O began about a century ago and it remains one of the most significant subjects in radiobiology. It has been related to increased production of oxygen radicals and other reactive metabolites, but only recently to the action of the numerous low-energy electrons (LEEs: 0-30 eV) produced by ionizing radiation. We provide the first complete set of G-values (yields of specific products per energy deposited) for all conformational damages induced to plasmid DNA by LEEs (G (O)) and 1.

Late blight, caused by , is a devastating disease of potato. Our previous work illustrated that scopolamine, the main bioactive substance of extract, exerts direct inhibitory effects on , but it is unclear whether scopolamine and extract can boost resistance to late blight in potato. In this study, .

Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) for chronic total occlusions (CTOs) requires advanced techniques and prolonged procedural efforts, often necessitating high contrast volumes, which may increase the risk of contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI). However, evidence suggests that factors beyond contrast exposure contribute to CA-AKI, though data specific to CTO PCI remain limited. Patients undergoing contemporary CTO PCI at our university-affiliated tertiary care center were enrolled.

Snakebite-associated acute kidney injury (AKI) poses a significant health burden in the South Asia region, resulting in considerable morbidity and mortality. Multiple factors contribute to the pathogenesis of AKI following snakebites, including hypotension, intravascular haemolysis, disseminated intravascular coagulation, rhabdomyolysis, thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) and direct nephrotoxicity. Clinical features manifest as anuria, oliguria, haematuria, abdominal pain and hypertension.

In clinics, physical injuries to the spinal cord cause a temporary motor areflexia below lesion, known as spinal shock. This topic is still underexplored due to the lack of preclinical spinal cord injury (SCI) models that do not use anesthesia, which would affect spinal excitability. Our innovative design considered a custom-made micro impactor that provides localized and calibrated strikes to the ventral surface of the thoracic spinal cord of the entire CNS isolated from neonatal rats.
