Inter- versus Intramolecular C-H Activation: Synthesis and Characterization of a Novel Platinum-Carbene Complex.

Published: December 1998

C NMR spectroscopy as well as the short bond between the platinum and the C4 atom of the pyridine ring in 1 (1.95 Å) indicate the formation of a novel carbene species. Compound 1 is remarkably stable (m.p. 246°C), probably due to the presence of intramolecular hydrogen bonds, and is formed instead of the expected cyclometalated product. R=n-hexyl.

Tropical peatlands are carbon-dense ecosystems that are significant sources of atmospheric methane (CH). Recent work has demonstrated the importance of trees as an emission pathway for CH from the peat to the atmosphere. However, there remain questions over the processes of CH production in these systems and how they relate to substrate supply.

Validation and Analysis of Recreational Runners' Kinematics Obtained from a Sacral IMU.

Sensors (Basel)

January 2025

Sport and Physical Activity Research Centre, Sheffield Hallam University, Olympic Legacy Park, 2 Old Hall Rd, Sheffield S9 3TY, UK.

Our aim was to validate a sacral-mounted inertial measurement unit (IMU) for reconstructing running kinematics and comparing movement patterns within and between runners. IMU data were processed using Kalman and complementary filters separately. RMSE and Bland-Altman analysis assessed the validity of each filtering method against a motion capture system.

The objective of regulatory authorities is to ensure a favourable risk-benefit balance for medicines in their licenced indication, without seeking to establish their place in the therapeutic armamentarium beyond that. The licenced indication covers heterogeneous subpopulations and often does not sufficiently specify the characteristics of the patients who may benefit. The regulatory information does not always show the benefit over the standard treatment(s); moreover, it only reacts to the conditions specified in the developer's application, and lacks an assessment of the clinical relevance of the benefit and its uncertainties.

Accuracy of teledentistry versus clinical oral examination for aged-care home residents: A pilot study.

J Frailty Aging

February 2025

Department of Pediatric Dentistry and Dental Public Health, Faculty of Dentistry, Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt. Electronic address:

Objectives: The aim of this pilot study is to assess the feasibility of using the mobile photographic method (m-health) of teledentistry for oral screening and triaging of older patients living in aged care homes.

Methods: The study took place in 2023 in four aged care facilities in Egypt. Three trained dentists performed clinical oral examinations of the participants and filled in the World Health Organization (WHO) oral health assessment form.

We aimed to evaluate the accuracy and reproducibility of right ventricular output (RVO) using different anatomical landmarks: the internal pulmonary valve diameter (PVD) between the valve hinge points (hinge-PVD) according to the traditional technique, and PVD between the valve leaflet tips (tip-PVD). This was a retrospective analysis of prospective collected data. All neonates with echocardiographic measurements of RVO and left ventricular output (LVO) without congenital heart disease, including patent ductus arteriosus and patent foramen ovale > 3 mm, were included.
